I weep for the old folks, who were pepper sprayed,
I shed tears
That we are continually divided.
My heart breaks when I see
Videos being played showing pointless violence,
Against
Those who express opinions differing from my own.
My Heart cringes at the thought that with so much plenty,
Many of my people go hungry.

I shudder to think of
All the empty and abandoned apartment buildings
And houses, as
Homeless people wander and
break into those empty places for warmth or
Shelter.

My heart breaks, my eyes water with anger,
Knowing these things need
Not be so.

If only we could open our
Eyes to see those who are behind
The scenes manipulating events.

As long as we cannot see the
Truth, and work together to
Make needed changes,
We'll not realize that
The real power is
Ours, not that of
The puppeteers

According to the Bible, Is it sin against God if a law enforcer is forced to take someone's life in the line of duty?

Very poignant. The holders of power are fighting right now, to not have that power taken from them. They will fail in their fight. If the people will it, and show resolve, it shall be done.

Yes the violence and suffering around us is depressing. We can only do so much, a simple gesture of help no matter how small can go a very long way.

And so the middle class dwindle, poor are poorer while rich get richer, how I shudder to think how many good lives are lost.....

Always when I woke up I made a deep study of a paragraph of the biblical scriptures, today I said:

"Do not give in to frustration. Even when we find ourselves dealing with the same problems over and over again, โ€œlet us not give up in doing what is fine, for in due time we will reap if we do not tire out.โ€ (Gal. 6:9; 2 Thess. 3:13) When faced with frustrating situations or recurring personality conflicts, do we control our lips and our temper? (Prov. 10:19; 17:27; Matt. 5:22) When provoked by others, we need to learn to โ€œyield place to the wrath.โ€ Whose wrath? Jehovahโ€™s wrath. (Read Romans 12:17-21.)"

I share it with the sincere desire to contribute to your peace.

Very poignant. In a world where we really have "plenty" (any society that throws as much food away as we do certainly has plenty) it's sad to see people - even in this country - going hungry.

Wars are fought over resources, or a lack thereof. If we all had the resources we needed, there would likely be much less conflict.

You just said a mouthful @wwwiebe. I am sad to say that, I can easily foresee wars or riots at least over access to drinking water.
Clean fresh water is THE most precious commodity on earth, and we Americans take it for granted SO much and WASTE IT so much, it makes me ashamed.
Nestle (and others) are buying up the rights to the ground water in places, in many others out west it is actually ILLEGAL to collect the rainwater that flows off your roof! Can you imagine that?

I know! It's absolutely crazy. I've quit buying Nestle products (that I know of, but they're everywhere so I'm probably still supporting them somehow). I could carry on for some time about it, but I think we're of the same mind.

A couple of my neighbours here in Delaware have rain barrels. I should ask them if they came across any restrictions.

Hi @wwwiebe, thanks for stopping by and commenting.
I think, for the most part, the restrictions are still limited to the western states. I have a friend here in one of the 'burbs' of Atlanta that has a barrel to collect the water from her gutter drains. It wouldn't be useful for drinking, but it does reduce her use (and bill for) of city water; she uses it for watering her garden.
You are absolutely right about them being everywhere. I've seen flow charts that indicate that ALL OUR FOODS we buy in stores really come from about 5 companies.
All due to 'corporate takeovers', different names, same overlords.

I feel your frustration and sadness @jerrytsueer. It would be paradise if we all could live in peace and abundance.

Thank you for commenting Joanne. That would be paradise indeed.
I don't advocate a 'socialist' society where EVERYTHING is divided equally, whether you work or not, but I also see so much waste that it is unconscionable for there to be hungry people walking around
Nice to 'see' you @redheadpei

Poignant. Very.

The sad truth is it is not only affecting the old but, whole families go hungry and homeless. I can say that many people are only a day away from being homeless, but, the fact is, there are many companies that offer leftover food and such to shelters to feed their people and are turned down because of some code (that they made) prevents them, all in the name of their own safety. Because starving is much better than that, right?

Our laws protect them from not doing better for themselves. How do you save enough money for shelter when you can't get a job because you have no address? It is the little things. I worked non-profit for long enough to know that your hands are tied from helping.

Whatever happened to helping your fellow man?

Nice piece, @jerrytsuseer

Thank you Denise, years ago when I was head cook at the local Hardee's franchise, every day when we switched from Breakfast to Lunch, whole trays of those "Famous made from Scratch Biscuits" went in the trash, some still warm from the oven.

I asked why they couldn't be given to the Nursing Home just up the street, and was told that:
"Because someone might get sick and blame the biscuits (or whatever food) then sue us, it would be a 'liability issue'"

Thankfully that has begun to change, some large grocery stores (I think Kroger is one) is giving away certain things like produce that is old or unsightly and can't be kept on the shelves, but is still perfectly edible. There may be some sort of waiver that must be signed.
Thank you for your support and for the tip @dswigle

Kroger has always done that in the Northeast, at least to the Shelters and Non-Profits I have been at.

There are a couple local grocery that does it and the Cafeteria Stle dining called Luby's also did it with their leftovers. There are good people behind those places, but, it does reflect on the sue-happy mentality of our country.

Great to see you here in PHC cousin Jerry!
Of course doing what I do you know that I am going to love your poem.

Did you know that the 22 richest guys in the world are worth more than the entire women population on the African continent?

Blessings!

Good to see you as well cousin Stephen.
As far as I remember, I've seen it said that the top 5 richest men in the world are worth more than the other populations put together (excluding governments of course)
Thanks for the support @papilloncharity

Thank you @justaclickindiva for reading and commenting. My vote power is depleted right now, so an upvote on this comment would be meaningless, but I'll come back when I've recharged.
I understand some people don't even bother to upvote comments since HF20 (or whatever the last one was) but I think it courteous to do so
