Shake It, Ice It, Drink It!

It's really really hot these days in Greece and who doesn't enjoy an ice cold frappé to fight these high summer temperatures?

- Miss, excuse me but I have an unknown word.

Tell me, child.

- What does "frappé" mean?

Frappé is the coolest (both literally and metaphorically) and easiest coffee drink invention!

Some decades back, at th International Fair of Thessaloniki some brilliant man had the epiphany of mixing instant coffee with cold water and ice and he got what millions of people bless him for...

- Miss, how do you make this thing? My mum mixes coffee with sugar and hot water every morning.

Yes, your mum makes the traditional instant hot coffee, mostly known around here as plain Nescafé.

A frappé on the other hand needs cold water. Just add the coffee and sugar (if you take sugar with your coffee) in a glass, pour in a little cold water, give it a good mix with a mixer...

...or alternatively add all the ingredients in a shaker and shake, shake, shake, shake, SHAKE IT mi amor! (just like Sakis Rouvas shook it in the Eurovision song contest years ago - click for the video).

Add some more cold water, milk if you like, and ice (it is important that you don't forget the ice!!) and there you have it:

The coolest coffee to give you energy and cool you down on a hot summer day! Perfect to wake you up in the morning...

Perfect to sip up while hanging out with your friends, playing some backgammon...

Perfect replacement for beers when you don't like alcohol...

Basically...

Simply perfect

...even on its own!
