Weekly running update WB 12/08/2019

What I like to think of as the 'Classic Weekly Ranscombe Suite' - 2 * 'fast' 5.2Ks and then a slower 8K.

Had some work in Kent Monday to Wednesday and so had the chance to get out around my favourite Kent nature reserve - for my usual runs. I'm such a creature of habit.

My coccyx now seems absolutely fine! No pain at all in that areas, just the usual aching hamstrings and stiff lower back after runs, all quite normal at my age!

I track most of my runs with Garmin, which auto uploads to Strava, and upload my walking/ running totals via my alt account (@self-track) via @actifit.

Weekly running summary:

  • Total kilometers this week: 18
  • No. of runs: 3

Monday's Run - 8K wet Ranscombe Screenshot 20190817 at 08.45.35.png

The first K was fine, then it started hammering it down and I got drenched - I had to take my top off half way around as there was no point wearing it.... It was so wet I had to ring it out to make it lighter!

Phew!

Wednesday's Run: 5K Ranscombe fast

Screenshot 20190817 at 08.44.17.png

Had a half day at work, so I got back and bashed this out rapido - very pleased with this time, really went for it - it's a hilly route BTW.

That might actually be the fastest I've done it?!?

Saturday's Run: 5K Ranscombe not so fast

Screenshot 20190817 at 08.43.31.png

Same route as Weds, just slower... not so bad given the early 6.30 a.m. start and my 60+K steps over the previous two days, so feeling a little knackered I guess!

At least I did the last 1.2K's faster than Weds!

Next week's running plans

I'll be doing one 10K long run, 1 interval session (back to intervals) and then the Park Run, and hopefully a long-ish walk tomorrow and next Sunday - I want Sundays to be walking day!

Great cadence for sure! I struggle with sustainable cadence on my run outdoors which is why I stretch myself on the treadmill. Hoping I can break 30 minutes again for my 5K in October!
