Weekly running update Mid February 2020 - 2 Meter Flood detours!

Three runs this week.

I had intended to do four, but fortune made it three. I headed up to the track on Thursday to do my second set of intervals for the week, wondering all the walk up there if I shouldn't maybe have had a rest day instead. When I got there the track was flooded, so I took it as a sign to rest and just headed back!

I also got lucky with the local Muddy Woody 10K, which should have been this Sunday - it was cancelled, and I hadn't signed up to it after much humming and hawing, makes no difference now I guess.

I track most of my runs with Garmin, which auto uploads to Strava.

Weekly running summary:

  • Total kilometers this week: 21
  • No. of runs: 3

Tuesday's Run - Intervals on the treadmill

Screenshot 20200216 at 15.37.52.png

I was really in the mood for the track, but it was bloody windy so I hit the tread instead for some longer intervals....

  • 400 metres @ 15 KPH
  • 400 metres @ 15.5 KPH
  • 800 metres @ 16 KPH
  • 800 metres @ 16 KPH
  • 400 metres @ 16.5 KPH
  • 400 metres @ 17 KPH

That last one was tough, maybe the previous ones had been too much, that's my fastest ever 800 metre interval set.

NB I really look at this as 6 sets of 400, with 2 warm up sets, what I did today was to push anything under 16KPH into the 'warm up' zone.

Never done that before. Getting tough on myself.

Saturday's Run: Treadmill, not the Park Run!

Screenshot 20200216 at 15.36.50.png

I wrongly pre-empted that the Park Run would have been cancelled because of Storm Dennis, so I headed to the treadmill to do a quick 5K blast, which I did as follows:

First 2Ks - 13 -14.5 kph increasing every 500M
Last 3Ks - 15 KPH

All on a 1 degree incline, which I had to lower in the last 1.1Ks.

This was harder than I thought it was going to be, but I got it in.

Then again I was feeling quite tired on arrival, another good reason for not going and doing the cold, wet and windy Park Run today!

Sunday's Run: 10K local

Just a nice easy 10K! Bit flooded in places! Good to get out!

Next week's plans

I'm in Kent working next week so I'm quite looking forwards to finding some new shortish routes Tuesday and hopefully Thursday if I'm in the mood!

Considering the weather, 3 runs a week are pretty awesome.
For me, just looking at the total number of kilometers you did makes me tired, lol.

And these posts are really making me curious to see how much my run would last so I shall test that soon.
