The last couple of weeks we have been working it. We are preparing for the the winter that we know is coming.
The calves are still locked up together separated from there Moms. We are using the technique called fence line weening. We have the cows in the pasture right next to the calves so they still get to see each other but no more nursing.

The Oregon cow “Lil Red is doing good but she will probably be calving in the dead of winter.

We had to work into the dark to get the windbreak complete and everyone fed on Friday.

But we accomplished our goal so the main herd would have protection in the upcoming storm.
As I am finishing this post I am getting psyched up to go out and shovel. The storm has passed and it was a doozy. I believe there is not as much snow at the ranch as their is here in the Black Hills but we will soon see.

We have the best views of the sunset up here. Stay safe in the storm!

Looks like you've got some shovelling ahead of you. Does it ever get annoying to have to dig your vehicle out? We don't get snow here where I live so it's not something I'll ever have to do I guess.

It’s not so bad at the beginning of the year but by the end of the snow season I am usually over it.

I have a couple brothers who live in Finland but I stayed here in Australia. Shovelling snow is not a thing here, they do it there though. I reckon it would be a good reason not to go to work though. 😉 Snowed in...Does that ever hapoen?
