In the area we live in there are a few old mill ponds. They had many wheat and corn fields in the area many years ago and they used the mills to grind the wheat and also the corn. Now they have been sold or the family passed the property down to children and grandchildren. They have now been turned into fish ponds and were stocked with fish and some offer memberships to fish in these private ponds.

This millpond and a couple of other millponds were created here by damming up Beaver Creek. Here is the spillway where Beaver Creek continues and then goes under a four-lane highway and continues on to create another millpond a few miles downstream.

There are some overflow ponds that are to the left of the family house. I would love to be able to walk out my front door and be able to fish whenever I wanted too. Sitting on the small dock there and just relaxing with a glass of sweet tea.

As you see this is a fairly good size millpond. Wheat and corn are still grown here in the area but it is taken to the bigger mills now and nobody mills their wheat and corn this way anymore. It is a shame that the old mills were torn down it is a bygone era. I hope everyone has a great night/day whatever it is in your part of the world. Thanks for reading!
