It's Time For A Dolphin Sized Celebration with 5k SHADE

Yes, I crossed into dolphin today

Today I finally crossed into Dolphin level on Steem. It’s been a long time coming and feels pretty good to get there. Last month I also reached 70 rep.

Then my question was how to celebrate this milestone. Being someone who has a strong belief in the power of community I needed to do something for community.

As it happens, we have communities in beta and I have a couple of them. I also have a token called SHADE.

On January 1st I started Prompt A Day. It’s an email list where subscribers receive a set of prompts each morning. They can use them any way they like. They can write prose or poetry, draw, do a video — whatever the prompt strikes their creative juices to do.

I also created the Shady Writing community where participants could posts their creations from the prompts. I’ve seen people posting. There has been some really excellent posts.

The 5k SHADE Challenge

For the month of February there is a 5k pot of SHADE available. Here’s what I’m going to do with it. At the end of February I’m going to share that pot of SHADE among those who have posted based on the prompts. Here’s the rules:

  1. If you haven’t done so, subscribe to the Prompt A Day email list
  2. Create posts based on the prompts for the Prompt a Day email list
  3. Post in the Shady Writing Community. NOTE: Just using the hive tag on your post will not post to the community.
  4. If you’ve done a video, do a post in the community with a link to the video.

You are NOT required to use the prompts for that particular day. If you want to spend a few days playing with a prompt, go ahead. If you want to use a prompt from January, that is okay too.

The prompts are about having some fun and expanding our writing skills.

At the end of February I’ll total up how may posts have been posted to Shady Writing. The 5k pot will be split between those posts. HINT: If I see lots of activity, I may just double that pot of SHADE.

I will be upvoting participants as I have been doing.

Participate in the Milk Challenge

@whatsup has started the Milk Challenge to encourage engagement on Steem. It’s pretty simple and you can participate while taking part in the Prompt A Day.

Prepare your post, use the tag #milkandtaters or #milkandtators and post in Shady Writing. Make sure your tag is in your first five tags. Then go visit the other posts in Shady Writing, the milk tags or any other tag until you’ve read and commented on 10 other posts.

When you comment on other posts, you are getting known by others. Commenting is an under-rated method of growing your network on Steem.

Well, that was nice of you. I'll check it out. Haven't done a freewrite since creative writing in high school but tbh that was one of my favorite classes.

Feel a sense of freedom in writing like that. Helps detach from the troubles of the real world and we all need that every now and then.

I really like your ideas and the concept you have of community, indeed alone we do not get anywhere but if we work with others and get stronger we will go far and survive like any other school.
