What I learned about Hive Communities from @roadscape and @elipowell

No-one yet fully understands what communities exactly will be, but tonight at @pennsif's Tribe.Talk both @roadscape (the lead communities developer at Steemit, Inc) and @elipowell shared some insights and progress on this long awaited feature on Steem. I've seen a lot of comments both on and off chain about 'I still have no clue what communities will look like' so I decided to take notes during the show and see if they were worth sharing. After the show I cleaned up these for you all to read: this might be known info to some, this might be the first time hearing about communities for another.
Steem Outreach Program #5 : Social Media
I read a post today from @niallon11 that reminded me that an important element was still missing from the Steem Outreach Program posts I have been writing. That is Social Media. I hadn't covered it yet not because I don't think it is an important part of an outreach program, but more because I don't have great expertise in social media, and also because I am not sure how far I should be taking this Steem Outreach Program development. Reading Niall's post reminded me that social media can, and should be, a vital part of any outreach and promotional push for Steem.
The NEW and IMPROVED @randowhale! All STEEM will be BURNED!
That's right, all STEEM sent to @randowhale and all curation SP earned will be sent to the @null account and permanently removed from circulation! Here's how it works: Send 2 STEEM to @randowhale - include the URL to the post you would like to have voted on in the "Memo" field. If @randowhale has sufficient voting power, you will receive a random % vote between 1%-100% on the post you requested. (Higher probability to receive lower % votes.)
Upon placing a vote, the STEEM that was sent to @randowhale will be sent to the @null account (bye bye STEEM!).
If @randowhale does not have sufficient voting power, you will receive a refund and will not receive a vote.
MyIndustry 4.0 event officiated by the one and only Tun Mahathir
Got the chance to attend this event today called MyIndustries 4.0. Its a 3 days event starting today and its graced by industry leaders and also blockchain experts as that would be part of the discussions during the events. This is a great step forward in moving Malaysia into adoption of new technologies. here is more details about the event. http://www.myindustries.org/blockchainmeets4.0/ In my opinion, just sitting in the presence of Tun Mahathir is really inspiring, unfortunatly he came and left just to officiate the event. Would have been great if we had a chance to take a selfie.
