The Weekly Zekely - Outdoor Adventure Time!

zeke.jpg

3 weeks. My legions of followers grow restless and the newest must be jonesing for their glimpse into this adventure I call a life. The good news is the last 3 weeks have been spent carefully celebrating the phase 3 reopening of our province up here in Hoserville (Canada.) Hopefully the weight was worth it and you enjoy the colours of the out of doors.

When we last left off, I was headed out to the wilderness to start the vacation in a Provincial Park. This is a favourite Pickleman family pastime as we pack up all of our camping gear and camp a few days off the grid, consuming insane amounts of beer, burning bankruptcy-level investments in overpriced softwood they sell at the park, and trying for a spot as close to the beach as possible..

This year, the beer was flowing, the firewood still became expensive but was nice northern hardwood, and we did spend half the time at the beach despite it being a 10-minute drive from the site. Piles of these large glacier-deposit rocks were left eons ago and made for a fantastic swim for the kids. I have many more shots I will assemble for a camping post but rest assured we will head back here next year and definitely bring serious sunscreen & our snorkel set.

This was a shot I sent to my #powerhousecreatives fam when I checked in from my next destination on the trip in the discord server. Morning coffee on 45 acres of farm/meadow/forest in front of the pool. Sure things have been pretty different and uniquely challenging this year but it can't be all that bad when you wind up here. A pool beyond the hostas and milkweed entertains the kids while we look north-northwest from fertile land thanks to the aforementioned glacier.

It is vacation time but I like to be active and helpful. Here is that same sky a little more to the west from atop a tractor. There is a garden that needs to be tended so that my host can sell his wares at the market the next day and plenty of chores to be done. It might have been the @davedickeyyall talking but I had to pause during my work to snap a pic of the psychedelic clouds.

This farm had an insane amount of perennial flowers that were also sold at the market in colourful bunches. I think these are black-eyed suzans towering over interesting ground cover. I find this shot particularly nice as I used no filter, and it was a point in the afternoon where the blue light from the sky is washing all over the green leaves.

I seem to shoot path photos often as I enjoy the perspective of the journey. This one is in the woods of the farm which I recall walking in the winter time. A tree has fallen across this one and is not a problem for those on foot but not great for tractors and ATVs. A chainsaw and a tractor bucket and this one became firewood for a number of bonfires.

Here, we have a sunset which prompted me to throw the word 'colourful' (Canadian spelling) in the opening paragraph of this post. A few steps back from the morning coffee spot, the nights were pretty spectacular as well. Night swims, family and a couple beers and I am in a happy place.

Speaking of beer, I have another trip to my favourite regional brewery on tap for this #beersaturday. This one is called Peel Out IIPA (Imperial India Pale Ale) which is North-American for hoppy, boozy, hazy face-punch. Plenty of colour in this outdoor adventure as well and I appreciate how the beer is about the same shade as the mango cylinder heads in the image. You will learn more about this one and the others on Saturday at the Hive Pub.

Back to the ridiculous adventure. The yearly family golf tournament is a serious thing with ample trash talk leading up to the event. This year became the covid cup which hampered our ability to have a huge party. Adding more water to the fire was a forecast which promised 8 hours of solid rain with breaks for heavier rain. I couldn't believe a quarter of the registered field showed up to golf in this shit, and neither could he marshal who had to return for what had briefly been a day off.

You can see the water dripping off the umbrella and pooling beside the path on the first tee-off. By hole 2, I was soaked to the bone and unable to hit anything for fear of throwing my slick clubs. It was the goofiest golf I have ever been a part of (since the last time we were here) and I golfed an honest 101 including penalty strokes and 5 putting greens under a half inch of water.

Before we head home, one last shot of some tiger lilies brought to you by amateur iPhone photographers becoming proficient because of practice on the blockchain.

I may as well continue the pattern of blog foreshadowing as I tease my next #gardenjournal post. The last thing I did before jumping in the car to leave was snap a pic of the garden. One of the first hings I did upon returning home (after a serious 4-hour car ride piss break) was to snap a pic of the garden that had been ignored for 4 days. Things are starting to pop as you may guess from the initial harvest. More on that in the next couple days.

I must admit I feel fairly blessed to be enjoying such a simple quality of life while so many others are facing so much strife. Probably wouldn't have occurred to me as much without time spent on the best blockchain blogging about it.

Thanks again for tagging along!

That looks like an awesome adventure you took! Almost looks like a whale in the pic.. if so, I would be terrified!

Looks like you're eating well though! Healthy body, healthy mind and great Hive posts!

No whales in this fresh water. Amazing how having fresh veggies growing on your property makes it so much easier to eat healthy!

You and me both!

Visits to barely open breweries are not much to photograph now but fresh beer on the blockchain must be a cool refreshing drink to folks who are still locked down.

Yah man.

What I made up for only half swinging (so I wouldn't throw the club) was cancelled out putting through ridiculous puddles.

It is great to be golfing regularly, counting every stroke, and actually working on improvement when the last few years it was 1 round a year.
