Pandemic or not, it is Mother's Day! For me, it generally means some nice gifts, a bunch of slave labour, and earning many wife points© This year, there are some different things going on, and it is cold and rainy so it may be a little different.

When Revival House https://www.revival.house/ calls, I like to answer. It is debatably the nicest restaurant in town, is run by a good friend of mine, and is fighting to stay in business like the other restaurants in town. This is Mother's Day though... which is generally one of the busiest restaurant days of the year.

With a fully sold out offering of Sunday Brunch, the skeleton staff would really have their hands full and I am happy to pitch in and do some deliveries. One of the neatest things is the bonus option of including a hanging basket of flowers for mom for $15. Not only is that a nice addition, it also helps out the local nursery http://cozynsgardengallery.ca/ who is working through government business restrictions to remain in business as well. I delivered a whole lot of all of that today.

Good thing I reserved my gourmet brunch bag and a couple of these hanging flower baskets. Wife points secured!

Then it was time for some hard labour. A little raised box planned expansion and distribution of three yards of garden soil and mulch. The plan for this 7-foot rectangle will be the home of a couple rows of carrots and some strawberries. I am wrapping this on every side with chicken wire in an effort to not create a 24-hour buffet for the rabbits, squirrels and birds.

While I was shoveling, the Snow Birds https://twitter.com/search?q=snow+birds&ref_src=twsrc%5Egoogle%7Ctwcamp%5Eserp%7Ctwgr%5Esearch are a neat group of military planes and pilots who fly close together. That is a gross oversimplification but they are on a mission to fly over as much of the province as they can. This cool show of support and encouragement thundered over me as I was filling a wheel barrow with black cedar mulch.

A good day helping out and earning wife points so it is time for some D&D and one of my top-5 beers! WHAT A DAY!

Being a mother activates a super power nobody else can understand. I hope you paid homage to more than 1 mom just to make sure they know we love, and really need them.
