Here IS Your Zeke Peek

zekepeek.jpg

I bet everyone has had a couple crazy weeks. Mine swung from business building to Halloween to being filmed on national television and lots more in between. High adventure during restricted times should fetch a premium of attention as I try in vain to swashbuckle during a pandemic. This is what I have for the last couple weeks.

Buckle up.

'Tis possibly the strangest Halloween of a generation or two.

This didn't stop my ladies from decorating the place, planning costumes, and working to make this one the best and strangest of all. Plans changed and cancelled trick-or-treating, then it was called back on again with masks, supervision, and reserved excitement. The haul was awesome and it was such a great lesson to learn for the kids that fun and sugar are attainable no matter how dire the situation.

The trees hold maybe half their leaves as autumn holds on boldly as winter threatens its arrival. The first couple times past this sign, I thought it read "Feck" Cr. Feek? Irish F-word? Shit Zeke sees in his hometown.

This beer is happening right now and is featured in the last #BeerSaturday post https://hive.blog/beersaturday/@zekepickleman/halloween-beersaturday-y-all and most likely the next this weekend. I was told that Paw Paw fruit is locally grown, and is best described as a cross between Mango and Banana. I am down with Way Down Yonder from Black Swan Brewing https://black-swan-brewing.myshopify.com/collections/frontpage/products/way-down-yonder and it is a highlight of the last couple weeks.

Yes that's right. My family beat out thousands of other families to be selected to compete on Family Feud https://www.familyfeud.com/ except it is the hoser edition https://www.cbc.ca/television/familyfeud It was a series of auditions, COVID tests and on set experiences I can share when the episodes air.

All I can tell you is that the experience was fun as hell and you really should stay tuned.

Art is challenged but alive an well in this amazing little artistic town. @town-crier is a company I started late last year with a couple awesome local partners and we have launched https://shopstratford.ca to connect local consumers with the local businesses they support. We have been focusing upon artists, restaurants, and independent contractors recently. This piece is on a storage container in the parking lot of one of the most exclusive venues in town https://www.revival.house/

This is just another in a long line of stories we like to tell which involve artists, local businesses, and the leaders that make a vibrant local culture happen.

Getting to work with the best venues, record shops, and DJs in town, you know i get to see some neat shows. This one is an image from the local vinyl/record show with the Revival Vinyl Society http://revivalvinylsociety.com/ Though their website is a work in progress, these guys really drive the vinyl movement in town and make it so much fun to hang with the cool kids.

You might think this is a tourist shot of our main square, town hall and historic original buildings. This would be correct but the purpose of this shot was to capture line of sight to a wireless access point for an internet client. On the lower right of City Hall, you might be able to see the light post with the teal banner and the white thing 3/4 up the pole. This is what I point the antenna at this AP so that I can deliver internet to the zoomers, watchers, and workers spending productive time at home. So many cool, locally owned businesses in this shot when I look closely.

You best believe there has been beer and many other adventures this last couple weeks. One of he most pleasant surprises has been the realization that Karma Citra IPA https://www.greatlakesbeer.com/Beer/karma-citra/ is available in limited quantities this autumn.

This beer would have a solid spot in my coveted Top 5 if it was available year round. As it is, you can only get this in November and I will enjoy it while it lasts. Great Lakes Brewery https://www.greatlakesbeer.com/ never fails to deliver to the IPA lovers and I have heard reports of Octopus Wants to Fight NEIPA soon to hit shelves. A great seasonal beer seems to be available from these guys no matter the season.

Working with @town-crier, I have been privy to so many small-town business success stories and so happy to be involved in a helping capacity. I believe the best stories are still to be told and I am happy to be involved in them.
