Do weird things happen in Russia? True or False?
Ok So I have been watching Chernobyl series by HBO last night. The first thing that came to my mind is - Why in Russia always? So the reason why this came to my mind is -
-- I watched stranger things. Although its a fiction but why do they always relate things with Russia and Russians.
-- I watched a Youtube video once in which they showed people are turning into weird Zombie like creatures after intake of some drug - It was in Russia too.
-- Then I was watching a video on Aliens existence on Earth and the real life episodes that people have shared - It was in Russian too.
-- Then Chernobyl last night - So my mind just raised this question why is it always Russia?
Maybe because it is so big in its surface area - more area, more weird stuff possibility?
Well maybe.
But rather than making perceptions, I went to Google and typed - Why is it that weird things happen in Russia? - But hey before I finished writing -
Google threw a suggested search - Why is it that weird things happen in Florida?
Floridaaaaaaaaaaaa?
No google I am interested in Russia :P
So I proceeded with my search and landed on some articles like -

This article states distance, climate, language and tradition as the reason of weirdness. But I did not buy any of the things they are saying here. Nothing sounds weird to me.
Then this link :

This states about some particular incident at some point of time. Some incidents are weird but they can happen in any country and must be happening.
So nothing from Google search accounted for me doubt of - 'Is Russia Weird?'
In fact I personally also think Russia is beautiful and I know some Steemians from there as well. All in all, I am happy that I answered my doubt today about Russia.
SO Hail Russia, nothing is weird there.
But I wonder why do they put Russia as the country for weird stuff in fiction series and movies, huh.

What did you say Chernobyl a fiction???
I thought you were talking about the world's biggest nuclear disaster. But then there was Japan a few years back and it was also a target of atom bombs' dropping ...way before the Chernobyl accident happened.
I don't read or watch fiction so failed to gather what exactly you're talking about here. To me, the whole world is weird ...including the Steemiverse!

I think western media is just trying to make Russia the scapegoat for most things wrong in the world even if there is no basis for it. Why is Trump the president of the United states? Because Russia did it? Lol!

maybe not 100%, but they do display Russia in this way - thats definitely true! and its a vintage honorable tradition at least since XVI century!
for example, 'Russia as a bear' trend was invented and appeared 1st in English caricature lithography prints in XVII century...
I agree on this after my google based research that they intentionally show all bad stuff happening in Russia in fictions.

India though is really weird in some cases.

Yes, I would say Russia is weird, not normal like everywhere else
I can't comment on Russia, though I do have some wonderful friends that hail from that part of the world. However, if you want a good laugh Google "Florida Man..." That became a viral sensation after a number of funny stories came out of the state. :) I think all parts of the world have some strange occurrences if you look hard enough, but some do seem a bit more so than others!

We are still friends today.
Russia is made the scapegoat of everything bad to draw the world's attention away from the evils that continue everywhere else.
It's a beautiful country with many historic landmarks.

The Chernobyl nuclear power plant is located in Ukraine. This has nothing to do with Russia at all! :)
