Prediction - Original Poem + Fortune telling ramble

Have you ever met someone who knew more about your future than you did? Were you ever curious about fortune telling? Many people must have given it a try just for fun at least once in their lifetime. Most likely at a party with friends.

That`s when the fortune teller or the "seer" makes his entrance wearing some strange gypsy style clothing and invites one member of the party crew to join him (her) for a card reading session.

This millennial practice is still around in our modern society and it doesn`t seem that it will go away anytime soon. Not as long as people need to hear what they want to be told. Curiosity is pushing them to have a cartomancy or chiromancy session (maybe combined with some numerology, astrology or other form of predicting the future).

They long to know what tomorrow holds for them and they are ready to pay for it a high price. Most common topics would be love, money and success. People are looking to get some self-understanding and knowledge that would help them gain some power in one aspect or another of their lives.

Although in the past two centuries fortune telling has lost some of the respect and reverence it had, nowadays it is a legal profession offering its services to a wide clientele, from curious teenagers, housewives to upper management employees and CEOs.

These spiritual advisors have a business license, pay taxes and they are legit as long as they make it clear that the purpose of their practice is entertainment or amusement.

Are their predictions accurate? Is it all a hoax? Is there something more than a cold reading? I would say that those who do it, offer more of a spiritual guidance as they act as personal counsellors encouraging their clients to practice their own will, to exercise their spiritual freedom and act upon it.

Although in most of the countries they are accepted by the society, there are some small exceptions. In Saudi Arabia, this practice is punishable by death as it is considered sorcery and it is opposing the Islamic teaching.

Have you ever seen a fortune teller? Had their prediction come true? Drop me a line in the comments section below!
