This and That on a Saturday Morning

Saturdays are always very busy when one goes out, so this morning I left quite early so that I would not have to contend with "the world and his wife" on the roads.

Actually, the main reason was that I wanted to go to our organic market to buy some lemons and I have learnt from the past that if one gets there too late, all the best produce has been snatched up already.
Today was my lucky day as they were still setting up - and yes, there were lemons!
While I was there, I also bought a few other items that I do not grow myself - these included carrots, some very large chillies. red onions and some extra celery(which I do grow, but a bit extra will not be wasted)

My next stop was in the same area and it was here that I went to spend an online voucher which was given to me at Christmas.
The money was spent on a canvas and some oil paints as I want to paint this for my son in the U.K. as a present for his recent engagement to a very beautiful soul.
I was able to get the right size canvas , so left feeling very pleased.

After a few more stops, I popped into a garden center on my way home to get some purple basil.

It was still reasonably early by this time so I planted my basil and then harvested a few things to make for my lunch time salad.
My Chrystal Apple cucumber was picked - I am so proud of this - and it tastes delicious.
I also pulled out some spring onions, picked some celery, tomatoes, herbs and edible flowers.
What a joy it is to be able to grow your own veggies!
