The scary thing is that this feels like normal politics

The dude won, he's gonna boss Brexit and beat Jezz.....

Yes it's a Sun headline but what struck me this morning is how I glanced at this in the supermarket and didn't bat an eyelid.

Then I did - when I realised just how far British politics has shifted towards Brexit calamity and personality in the last three years.

I'm sure politics used to be about things like taxes, education and foreign policy... but now it just seems paralysed, and in the absence of any actual significant progress (or even regress) politics has become even more something that's about entertainment, something for us all to joke about.

I mean it's been heading that way for decades but I had one of those moments this am when I realised there's been a sudden acceleration.

Perhaps gawp and laugh or cry is all we can do when there's still no obvious solution to the Brexit Polarisation?

I'm sure it'll be fine, may as well just sit back and enjoy the show, and the good weather.

I havent been following the British politics much lately, but recently (the last year) it always feels that every news is like a caricaturerical figure of just angry kids... What about a country to lead maybe?

I stopped following politics long ago as it is all of very little usage. It is a circus to keep the masses entertained.

I don't really follow it either - but Brexit and this leadership contest have kind of been hard to miss!

yeah, I don't watch TV or visit news sites unless I have been specifically directed by someone I know for a particular reason.

I am with @tarazkp. It's no better in Canada. Our priemer's previous career was a drama teacher. And, Trump -- well, reality tv much? It's a good thing you noticed! All that 'doing nothing' is paying off. Now, we just need a creative idea to help us pull through this shit show of wanna be politics to actually get us onto a good tack. And, i don't mean the 'one world government' this circus is likely crumbling into a pile of!!

Maybe this is our natural progression towards realizing that we don’t need these governments at all and could do a much better job without them. We are starting to realize that this clown show it useless and does far more harm than good.

That's a nice way to think about it! There is a lot of decentralised volunatarism in the UK which few politicians represent!

It's normal at the moment, but right now we are at the bottom of the curve. We can I ly start to go back to previous highs!...

Maybe people will realise they need to vote to get change. Turnout is generally low in the UK. Boris got his dream, but I hope it doesn't last too long

Two of the most powerfull western countries now have a populist in charge!
Don't like how things are evolving. But also curious if he can get a better deal with the EU and how he will manage the issues with Iran.

Ha ha.... 'it's a boraster!' Would have been my headline... but I think I'd be lynched if I wrote for the Sun (insert 'Scum' as we call it in Liverpool).

With Boris in charge politics is only really about one thing, entertainment value. That guy is pretty much everything I despise about the elite.

Ho hum... for me the only silver lining is that he's such an arrogant arsehole that he might push his 'lovable clown' act too far and do/say something so heinous that it forces an early general election. I'll leave you with this thought from 'America Trump'... apparently we're all calling Boris 'Britain Trump', and that's a good thing lol Trump really is scarily delusional 😆
