I generally don't write personal criticism but this person's speech turned entirely against my expectation.

What do you expect when you go to a talk by a famed international journalist and a nationalist?

Well, I didn't know much about this person. Yesterday evening, I went to listen him expecting some decent intellectual discussion.

But his speech was quite aggressive and full of hatred against one community.

He wasn't even consistent with his own thoughts & arguments. He had only one agenda in his mind ...to support the political party that's in power.

Interestingly, he says he isn't communal but he is against the 42nd amendment in Indian Constitution for adding the word "secular" in its Preamble.

He differentiate between a Country and a Nation and thinks himself as a Nationalist but forgets that the word "Nation" doesn't just apply to India but includes countries like Pakistan & Bangladesh too.

He was not just against radical Islam but Islamic community as a whole. He keeps reminding audience about the DNA of Indian citizens to instigate them about their culture & religion but forgets that even Islamic people in India also carry the same DNA in their blood.

He differentiate between Dharma ( religion) and Majhab / Panth-vaad (sectarianism) and tells the audience that there is only one eternal Dharma in this world called Sanatan Dharma but forgets about his own definition when talking about majhab Islam. If Islam is a majhab, according to his own definition it belongs to Sanatan Dharma. Then why so much hatred!

Neither did I like the language, words and the tone he used. Nothing spoke of his intellectual demeanor. He was just talking like a common man on street and at times even using very lowly & degrading words & remarks.

Of course, his speech was very charged up and loud with violent words to incite the audience.

In fact, he believes that peace can't be attained without the demonstration of power. He wants to infuse fear in Islamic community of India. What will you call that?

Unfortunately, this three and a half hour long session didn't include a Q&A session. How convenient for him to give such a toxic talk!

His talk scheduled at Jaipur on 15th December was rightly banned by the Government of Rajasthan. Although the ban was possibly politically motivated as Rajasthan in not ruled by BJP at the moment.

But my city though in Rajasthan has a BJP board at municipality. Perhaps this was the reason he was allowed to deliver his two and a half hour long talk in Town Hall auditorium. Not only that, all prominent political personalities of the region from BJP too were present through out this time.

This was very strange experience for me!

May intellectuals of the society attain some wisdom!
