Love lost

in poetry •  4 months ago

It is twelve am
I delve within the hips
Of moons & suckle the forests
The dew clinging to my lips
Like milk like sweat salty sweet
I crawl over the hills & valleys
Seeking rest on sighted divine heights

But my limbs ache & hunger
Curves my stomach to my spine
I find the clouds & lean
On their fluff & puffy tips
Then a kiss touches me & I awake
To my concrete floor poking my scars
As if questioning their existence
I wake up to the soft snores
Of rats waiting for my eyes to shut
I wake up to the rancid smell of guilt
& then in that silence I weep

I weep for you
Long since dust for me
A shadow lost in the shape of a man
I weep for us for all that
We gave away all that we lost
& when I am done I wipe my eyes
& begin again
