If wishes were horses....
I wish to sleep & never awaken,
On your laps - a dead tree carrying
Words - epitaphs and eulogies
Of love's short inhales & exhales.
I wish to hold you dear as a vine
Clinging to a curb curls in the sun
& wears all the spittle & polybags
Tossed away from free fingers.
I wish to reshape you on the wall,
Flickering shadows taking flight
From trimmed wick to the wind's
Motes twirling from the floor
To the ceiling, to the divine.
I wish to want you still hot,
Still full from gorging on
Rotten apple cores and bitterleaf,
Like I have never wanted myself.
I wish to drink from your bones,
Taste the bitter brew from your lips,
Quench my hungers within your fingers,
A fiddle in the crook of your arm,
A crook in between your ribs,
Touching your heart.
Happy Holidays!!
