This Haiku expresses that sheer joy when you hit the accelerator peddle on the car on a wide open road. There is nothing quite like it. Lol, for a pretty ecologically minded person I've got the driving bug real bad. It has been a real challenge for me living the last year without a car. Not for any practical reason as I don't really need to drive where I live in the city center, but I'm just missing driving around the place and the freedom of being able to jump in to my Mondeo and test that the turbo is still working. This Haiku is dedicated to all my fellow speed demons out there 😉

This is day twenty four of my month long challenge - from the 06th of August until the 06th of September - to post a daily Haiku on steem. Each week will have a different theme based on picture prompts from either Pixabay.com or Unsplash.com. This week's broad theme is technology.

I have created a new tag #monthofhaiku. If anyone wants to replicate the challenge please feel free, I will check the tag occasionally and try to curate the better Haiku. However, this is not meant to be a challenge to the writers' community. I am away in Yorkshire from today for 10 days with no access to a computer and limited internet. Please, forgive me if I'm slow to respond to comments, as I will only be checking my phone (and partiko) occasionally while away. This weeks Haiku are being published via @steempeak using their fantastic scheduling feature.

The picture used in this post is creative commons, linked below pic. If you have enjoyed this Haiku, please check out my homepage @raj808 for similar content. Thank you.

Hope you're OK after the Hardfork. I'm kind of stunned.

Hi @agmoore

I'm ok. Yes it's a puzzler to predict how the HardFork will turn out. There is potential for it to work if more whales than just theycallmedan decide to start reading and supporting good content creators.

There are a whole bunch of people (including me) using their free downvotes to police the bidbot abusers on trending. Some things are positive, but I'm just not sure this fork has provided the best tools to sort it all out. Only time will tell. I'm committed to straight for a month or two to see if my rewards equal, or get better, than they were before the fork. If they stay worse, I'm offskie 😒

As you know, I'm not sophisticated. I've had fun blogging and networking for the last year or so. But this change seems punitive to those who don't have a lot of steam power, and who don't have a strong following. In the past, I've alternated between creative writing, art and science posts. It seems my creative writing and art forays, though they were very involved and took a lot of time, will be slighted dramatically. I don't think I have the ego to happily endure being ignored, passed over. It's not the money, as you know. It's the lack of affirmation. Voters will be obliged to support posts that promise a greater payout. So, there is no place for my creative posts. I don't think Steemit will see any more of those. Isn't that a loss? Isn't it a loss if my response is representative of a Steemit blogging segment?

I feel a little sad, but hope the new environment works for you.

Be well and prosper :)

Yes, it must definitely would be a kiss. The way it seems to be working out now is very sad. And I do think it's likely this is all just a money/power grab by witnesses and the top SP holders. But, I think it will take a little time to figure out if that is really the way this goes.

Here's why. Basically, it comes down to the huge amounts of steempower locked up in delegations to bidbots. If bidbots can be made to be less profitable for those delegators then they will undelegate and switch up to either manual curation or delegating to curation groups (like curie or ocd) or possibly to communities for a return on investment from curation. All those delegating whales are bothered about is making passive return on their delegated steem. So if these changes can make curation more profitable than delegating to bidbots, all of those millions of SP will start to be put to use. And this is why using the free flags to curb the bidbot abuse (people who stack bought bidbot votes on low quality post) on trending is the first step.

This is the perfect world scenario, if it goes the way I've described above anyone who receives curation from guilds, or communities will see much higher value levels on their posts and hopefully this could remove the negative impact
that the steem middle classes disinterest for high quality creative writing posts has.

The other (and unfortunately more likely) scenario is that the whole thing was a political narrative by the upper classes of steem to increase their rewards through circle voting each other and a small select group of 'steem cheerleaders'. But it's gonna take a month at least to see how it plays out.

I don't think I have the ego to happily endure being ignored, passed over. It's not the money, as you know. It's the lack of affirmation.

I know exactly what you mean. As I said, I'm going to start writing long travel articles and some fiction again for a month or two to see if this new system does actually encourage the orcas and whales to push decent content to trending and if I see no joy, I'm leaving. Before I do though I will start a discord channel for all the great writers of steem who've been shat upon to keep in contact and possibly otfer each other informal support in editing and workshops.

I hope you're well agmoore.

P.s. I had to remove all my autovotes when I went on holiday but I'll be reinstating my support of good writers (including you 🙂) when I get back.

You know I'm a consistent supporter of your work. It doesn't matter what happens otherwise. Your stuff is valuable, and you were supportive of me when I was just a flea around here. I have a good memory and strong sense of loyalty. I hope you do well, and hope the new system works for you. I think you are more nimble than I and you will find a way to make this work.

I don't do autovoting... Just check your blog regularly and try to catch all the posts. When my VP replenishes, I'll hop over there later. Votes aren't worth much anymore, unless the VP is strong.

See you around...be well and prosper :)

Hi @jayna

Yeah, this was a good fun challenge to myself to keep me active on steem while I'm away. A bit of a contradiction in terms, but the scheduling tool in steempeak made it possible 🙂

I'm doing ok. Last day of holidays today before we drive back to the city. Here's a picture of a village I visited yesterday that's older than America for ya 😉 check out the cobblestone streets. I'm going to write some travel blogs about the trip when I get back.
