What can I say about Amalfi?

It is a place of romance, steeped in the sultry Italian sun.

When we visited in July of 2015 the heat was intense, but my pervading memories are of balmy evenings drinking and talking with my Ex girlfriend, dreaming of the future and sharing our pasts. Also, braving the heat to wander the paths and villas of the mountain village of Ravello.

Oh yeah... and the food 😂

In all seriousness though, the Amalfi coast as a whole has a magical feel. A kind of decadent atmosphere that sweeps you away into realms of indulgence, it is the perfect getaway for lovers.

If you travel off the beaten path you can find adventure. Toward the end of this 'rather expensive' trip I crunched the numbers and was pleased to find I had enough money left to hire a boat to blast up and down the coast. If you have £300 spare I would highly recommend this as the various towns on the Amalfi coast are a whole new experience viewed from the sea.

As I am usually a lone traveler, and this trip to the Amalfi coast taught me a new perspective. A journey shared is so different, it requires compromises that you may not have to make on a lone journey, but through those 'joint-decision jaunts' you end up discovering things you'd have never found on your own. Your world is expanded through the eyes of your travel companion, and both are enriched in the sharing.

“Life is short and we have never too much time for gladdening the hearts of those who are travelling the dark journey with us. Oh be swift to love, make haste to be kind.”

― Henri Frederic Amiel

I have decided to challenge myself for a month to post a daily Haiku on Hive. Each week will have a different theme based on a picture prompt.

This is the final post in this week's theme all about The Wonder of Travel.

That looks like it was an awesome trip. I would love to go there someday! With the possible waning of this horrid pandemic on the horizon, I am once again daydreaming of travel.

It really is an amazing place. Very romantic couples destination... aviod July though unless you can really take extreme heat 😉

I down played it in this blog but the heat was so intense it made me very sleepy a lot of the time.

I am once again daydreaming of travel.

Amen to that. Roll on the end of the pandemic and fulfilling those travel dreams. I really want to go scuba diving somewhere tropical asap 🤣
