Island Earth - A Month of Daily Haiku (Day 22)

Today is the beginning of week four of these daily Haiku which signals a change in theme. After focusing on traditional Haiku (usually about nature, and the seasons) I wanted to change it up to try a more modern style of Haiku by reflecting on images around technology. This image of the space walk is awesome, and the main feeling I focused on in the Haiku was that of the emptiness of space that astronauts must feel, with the vast island bulk of earth suspended below them in the vacuum. This weeks Haiku are going to be tricky to balance the complexity of the subject, with the simplicity and low amount of words, in the form. I am going to try and focus on one idea/image to keep the Haiku focused while still resembling what a Haiku should be.
This is day twenty two of my month long challenge - from the 06th of August until the 06th of September - to post a daily Haiku on steem. Each week will have a different theme based on picture prompts from either Pixabay.com or Unsplash.com. This week's broad theme is technology.
I have created a new tag #monthofhaiku. If anyone wants to replicate the challenge please feel free, I will check the tag occasionally and try to curate the better Haiku. However, this is not meant to be a challenge to the writers' community. I am away in Yorkshire from today for 10 days with no access to a computer and limited internet. Please, forgive me if I'm slow to respond to comments, as I will only be checking my phone (and partiko) occasionally while away. This weeks Haiku are being published via @steempeak using their fantastic scheduling feature.

Although I like the haiku as well as the picture that inspired it, I must admit that I like the story around it even more.

Cheers Donald. The thoughts and creative process seem like a natural thing to include. After all, three lines of poetry and a picture can seem a like a small post, even if it took you an hour to hammer down to make the perfect Haiku 🤣
