Falling Stars - Heavenly Haiku

This haiku was inspired by the recent Quadrantid meteor shower that illuminated the skies on the 3rd of January 2020. Although it wasn't visible where I live due to cloud cover, this event sparked memories of viewing the Perseid meteor shower in Ibiza in 2013.
I remember the magical feeling of arriving to the camp site from the plane at 2am. We'd taken the late flight to save money, and after disembarking from the cramped EasyJet flight in the early hours of the morning, had found August in Ibiza was a hot and humid place. I had also bought a large bottle of Captain Morgan rum from duty free. After leaving the taxi we noticed the meteors raining down in a cacophony of diamond teardrops. having consumed a little too much of the rum, we went straight to the beach and lay beneath the stars wondering at this celestial light show. Myself and my girlfriend at the time jumped in the sea fully clothed and it was warm like bath water. The memory is ingrained deep in my psyche; the soft sway of the waves warm embrace while falling stars serenaded our arrival.
This haiku follows the model of the Mizu No Oto - Haiku Contest, where a picture is used to prompt a haiku. In this case I have taken my prompt from the image used as a thumbnail and the memory it inspired.
The Mizu No Oto - Haiku Contest (linked above) contains a fantastic tutorial on the traditional aesthetics and technique of haiku, I recommend checking it out for a master class in that form of poetry.
In this haiku I have tried to adhere to the 1st iteration of the ichibutsu jitate stylistic model - while keeping a strict 5/7/5 syllabic structure.
