Beliefs - An Original Poem

Like the firm hands of an assassin
That grabs your throat
To squeeze life out of you
Beliefs hold you
Clouding the sky of your thinking
So that you can neither see
When you look
Nor feel when you touch.
Cancer eats into your flesh
But beliefs eat into your heart
So that you and your brother
Can no longer drink from the same cup
We can call firefighters
To put fire to shame
But who shall we call
To quench the fire of beliefs
That have ravaged our world?
