The Last Vestige (An Original Poem)

avatar
(Edited)

As the last vestige
of daylight
washes down upon us,
even the bones
of the city
are beautiful.

We celebrate
its many ghosts
and curse our villains,
almost in the same breath.

As the sea draws
us in closer
to its soft edges
a certain wisdom, old
and long forgotten,
seeps in to tell
us that the cure
for each of our troubles
is but a long, slow walk
along this healing shore.

Thanks, Eliana! This one is about the sort of epiphany nature (especially the sea) can spark inside of you. You can approach it feeling the weight of the world on your shoulders and it has a way of changing your perspective for the better. Have a wonderful day!
