When the Weather Outside is Sunny

Yesterday I moved two of my plants outdoors: my citrus tree (left) and my pineapple plant (right). I put them on the back porch, which we do not use because the door sealed. They get good southern sunlight here and are out of the way. Last year the tree was in a spot that got good morning light but not so much in the afternoon. The pineapple plant was also close to a walkway where everyone who passed by would bump into the leaves and bend them. That won't be a problem this year.
Hopefully the pineapple will bloom this year. I coaxed it into flowering by putting apple peels around the plant. When they break down, they release ethylene gas which the leaves sense and then the plant goes into bloom. I read about this trick but I don't really know why it works.
I had to resort to using inorganic fertilizer sticks on my citrus tree because I was concerned about the continued yellowing of the leaves. It will probably start to improve. We got a good thunder storm last night and some hail even fell, but the plants were protected from it.
That's all for plant updates today, everyone!
Thanks for stopping by!

I'm still waiting for the weather to get warm enough here to put my plants in the greenhouse. I'm still concerned that they might freeze overnight.

That's still a concern here too. I had to bring those two back in last night

Cool! I think I learned something from your post. I'll put apple peels too next time!
