Succulents by sunny windows - Macro Photography

avatar

As I was taking infrared photos of these plants, I was also using my stock GH3 and took photos of the plants in the visual spectrum.. aka normal photography. My plan was to blend them together, but unfortunately I failed to set the aspect ratio the same on both cameras. So I was unable to blend them until I take the photos again using the exact same settings on both cameras.

Link to my infrared photos of these plants in my previous post:

The Aloe Vera's spots are visible in the normal light but were not in the infrared photography.

The true color of the container shows, it appeared white and almost see through in the infrared photos but its purple in visual light.

The purple mason jar shows its true colors as well, though it seems the infrared photos caught more of the hue of the colored glass reflecting on the leaves above.

Much more detail can be seen in the visual light spectrum with the patterns in the leaves. Its almost a flat satin texture in the infrared spectrum.

I think the Christmas Cactus looks more impressive in the infrared spectrum. Its green succulent like leaves really reflect that infrared light well.

Well my experiment of blending photos failed, due to me not setting both cameras exactly the same. But none the less, photos from both cameras were used and nothing was wasted. Planning on trying again soon and when Spring pops outdoors I will be able to do alot more of this blending, Im thinking is going to be pretty impressive if I can pull it off.
