Our volunteers are working to help repair major storm damage at a small country church!
We found a small church, about 60 miles from here; that had a tree fall through it's roof, during a storm. They had the roof replaced, but have been trying to fix the rest of the damage for a year.
It's a nice little country church, but the congregation is small, and older. Several of us try to help the outlying churches, with skills they don't have. We called for everyone we could, to help this church; and got volunteers from four other churches.
It's on...the fight begins!
We begin stripping out the wet carpet materisls
We got a lot done at the little church today. We had about ten people show up to help.
We stripped the sanctuary, repaired their air conditioning, rebuilt the ceiling where the tree fell through, removed all the damaged carpets, steamed the moldy walls, marked the damaged flooring for replacement, and cooked lunch for everyone.
Our HVAC volunteer pulled their water fountain back to his shop for a new conpressor. We will reinstall it after the floor damage is fixed. We fed everyone chili and served sandwiches for lunch, they had all worked hard! We had one Lady come by who need some help, and we fed her too.
I like the spirit they have, when I noticed this on their sign out front:
Seeing this made me smile. It's good to be GOD's hands for a day!
The drive took me across a portion of Keystone Lake on the way there:
The color of the water calls me.
Sadly, no time to stop!
It was 93 degrees, and I really wanted to just pull over and jump in, LOL! :-) Our homestead is 15 miles north west of here, but the water sure looked inviting....
Be blessed, and find a way to make a difference; And as always, keep on prepping!
♡♡♡♡♡
Awesome.
I enjoyed their sign out front, it showed a good sense of humor; under adversity. There is still b a lot to do there!
