Beautiful Plaka in Athens

Plaka is the area that tourists hang out as there are lots of cafes, restaurants, and resting places for tourists.

The best place to look for accommodation is near Plaka. We rented an apartment just right behind Plaka so it was very easy for us to visit the acropolis and hang around in the Plaka area.

Plaka is situated right under the Acropolis.

So as you walk along the streets and look up, you get to see the Acropolis up high.

It is even greater when you are sitting in the outside cafe looking up the hill.

2 Main Pedestrian Streets

In Plaka, there are actually only 2 main pedestrian streets but they cover quite a distance.

The 2 main streets are:

• Kydathineon
• Adrianou

If you go on the Adrianou street, you will also get to the Monastriraki flea market which is also worth a visit if you like strolling and visiting more shops.

Lots of Cafes and Restaurants

The great thing about Plaka is that the outside cafes and restaurants offer a variety of food and snack, especially in the afternoon when you are tired from all the walking.

Also a great place for lunch or dinner too.

It is not usually overcrowded.

Lots of food for you to choose.

All Greek salad, souvlaki, grill and Greek delights.

A great place to hang out just to relax with beer. soda and grilled octopus.

The price here is generally a bit high and expensive. One can understand that. All the tourists don't mind paying the extra so that they can enjoy all the touring sites around Plaka.

Many Souvenir Shops

There are also tons of souvenir shops on Plaka.

Everywhere you turn, they have a lot of cute little things that you can buy to take home to your friends and families.

Greeky style of clothing.

Different spices for their salad and grill.

Cute looking accessories for the girls.

All in all, this is really a nice place to stroll around at night to after dinner.

You can hear live music playing on the streets or from the restaurants.

This place is filled with people until late after midnight.
