Coming Home - Part I, KitKat Meets Piper 🐾

The date was September 12th. Nobody could have predicted how an already established family of dogs would react to a new kitten being added to the mix. My daughter and her spouse already had a blended "fur-and-fin family" consisting of four rescue dogs (Piper, Layla, Ryder and Finn), two outside rescue cats, one 30-gallon freshwater aquarium and now: a new kitten!

Today's post features the kitten I affectionately nicknamed KitKat meeting the dog called Piper in Part I of my "Coming Home" series.

"I Want My Mommy"

The little kitten appeared to be frightened by the new environment. No worries, Sweet KitKat! We have all the love, patience and time you need to feel comfortable!

"Itty Bitty Kitty"

Look at how tiny the kitty was when it first came home! Someone was giving away kittens for free online (never a good thing!) and we are now positive the babies were too young to be taken from their mother at that time. The owner obviously was in a hurry to get rid of them.

This was Piper and KitKat's first time meeting each other. Clearly there was nothing to worry about as Piper's maternal instincts immediately kicked into gear and she took KitKat under her paws!🐶❤🐾🐱

How adorable is this?💕 Look at the way Piper affectionately checks through the plexiglass door to see how KitKat is doing!

At bedtime KitKat sleeps in a large laundry room where she has soft blankets to sleep on and a litter box in which to do her dirty business.💩

The kitten still is too young to tell if it is male or female though my instincts tell me she's a she.

I know I have been slacking. It has been nasty out lately so that has killed my fresh photo supply! I hope to get out some tomorrow.

No worries, Paul. I totally understand. Winter came suddenly and doesn't appear to be leaving anytime soon. Not much fun being outside on snow covered ice. Good luck getting your closing squared away and enjoy time with the kids before they fly the nest. I know you know!💫

She was such a tiny little thing!
I have the second image that's not in sepia that shows her blue eyes much better. Probably be seeing it in a monochrome Monday post.🐾🐱💕
