Some Messor Harvester ants
Walking around on a site visit, I saw some ants crawling in file to and from an opening in the ground.
Not the typical safari ants I'm used to seeing.
They seemed particularly interested in vegetation...
Some research yielded the fact that these are Harvester ants of the messor genus.
They are important contributers of seed dispersal.
They are granivorous and are found mostly in grasslands and savannah.
