This beautiful plant was a gift they gave me some time ago, they had told me it was a very striking plant, when they gave it to me I only had the leaves, so; intrigued by such a good reference of the plant I set out to investigate a little about it.

I really did not find a great contribution just called begonia, this is thanks to the fact that a botanist who honored a former governor of Haiti, is a plant of warm climates and has more than 1,500 species and about 10,000 hybrids have been made with them.

A plant that usually grows like robust bushes, in cold climates they die, they are from hot climates but they do not tolerate the sun directly, certain species bloom all year round and others only for seasons.

They are widely used in an ornamental way, since they usually cover large areas of land, their flowers are varied and striking in terms of size, shape and color between species.

This species that I show is the so-called begonia cleopatra, it is a herbaceous species; that is, it blooms once a year, its stems are fleshy and have hairs, the flowers grow in corsages and hang as a waterfall.

When the flowers grow, they have a very similar shape to the clams, because of the way they emerge, they open up over the days, leaving their pistils completely exposed, their stems are long and very hairy.

Its flowers are a pale pink color with darker edges and the pistils are yellow, having a beautiful contrast there, they lack aroma, but that does not prevent certain insects from reaching them.

The leaves have a star shape, are a light green with dark green lines, have many hairs with the edges with spikes. They have a plastic appearance as they shine and appear waterproof.
