Happy Steem Birthday! - I am on the Steem blockchain for 2 years!

Yup, what a milestone for me, right?

So, should I celebrate today?

You may say yes, but to be completely honest, I don't feel like it. One year ago I was a strong proponent of STEEM and most of its DApps. Today... let's say I am "neutral" leaning towards negativity. Here are few reasons and let me emphasize they are only my personal opinion:

• Complexity - hives, tribes, SMTs, communities, cross posting, do we really need all those? Why creating a new feature like the cross posting that sounds so spammy?

• Advertisements - I had the impression there are cleverer ways to gain some money on the blockchain than feeding your precious users with ads for stuff they don't need? Or is it just money is never enough?

• The major drawback for me is that I became aware that there are a lot of things going underground - whale wars, spheres of influence, people who took the role of "steem police", groups of accounts fighting each other, all ugly stuff. I was even personally contacted, threatened and told what I am allowed to do. All those rules... written nowhere. At least Facebook has written standards. They may be unfair but one can go and read them.

As a conclusion - one year ago I was convinced being on STEEM is better than being on Facebook. Today... I am not.

I will continue to ride the train though, as I don't want to jump while it is moving, if you get my point.
