Photography print shop and 10,000 STEEM POWER!

It’s the eve of Cyber Monday and I’m feeling the pressure. This last week has been a masterclass of social media and project management. I can’t believe I’ve been able to keep it all straight and navigate it with a degree of success. Friday, I posted “Hustle freewrite!”, and that hustle is still going. I managed to clear an entire month’s mortgage in one day […the last day I had to make it before my house payment was due]. I’ve had the rest of the weekend to prepare for Cyber Monday, and I’m about to share what I’ve had up my sleeve for this capitalist occasion.

Firstly, let me mention to all of you reading, I’m not trying to shill my work or photography on the Steemit community. If you want to go grab a photo or two, I would be thrilled, but Steemit is the only place on the internet I’m consistently paid or rewarded for my art other than Patreon, and as much as I value that platform it’s got the centralized shareholder type model that’s increasingly hard for me to stomach after discovering Steemit. This is still a journal for me, and in the life of @kommienezuspadt, this is what I did today.

Okay. Disclaimer made, tonight I put the finishing touches on my Etsy store to finally start selling prints. This is about a decade overdue, I know. I’ve been working on an Etsy store for the last few weeks. It’s more work than you think considering all the options of sizes, dimensions, shipping information, and of course, new photography of the prints that capture how good they actually look. That’s for each print, too. @vermillionfox helped with those shoots, and although I’m starting with just a few available, I’ll be adding more after this shopping holiday tomorrow.

With the algorithm changes and egregious censorship with Instagram and the Zuckerberg offerings, I came to a conclusion that in the New Year, I both need a.) to own the platform […Steemit gets a pass because as a stake holder, I do own the platform, in a sense], and b.) have to make passive income. That’s mostly what the store is about. I don’t own Etsy, but Etsy is a stop gap until I can port the entire store over to my own site, which I’ll be focusing on in January and February.

Passive income is such an important part of my equation for happiness, though. I was raised in Scranton, PA. It’s a hardworking, coal mining town. The idea of “intellectual property” was so foreign to me. We were raised to be thought of as batteries, like the embryos in the Matrix, except born and pushed in to the labor force, then to work until we died. After that, just replaced with another uneducated proletariat. Once I started shooting in LA, I was introduced to this idea of passive income.

If you’d like to visit the bones of the print store, you can visit www.darkpinup.co or https://kommienezuspadt.etsy.com and snoop around. There is a very limited edition autographed photo of @ryanashley from Inkmaster. To show all the love I can for Steemit, you can use the coupon code “STEEMIAN” for 25% off the entire store, should you decide to buy something. That’s it from the hustle frontlines. Don’t forget to check out the IndieGoGo I’m doing with @ghostfish on @coppercoins!

In closing, I just wanted to show appreciation for a big milestone I was happy to hit. Last night, I was able to power up and hit 10,000 STEEM POWER. I’ve been earning and buying here and there, and it was a hugely positive achievement for me going in to the New Year. Steemit has been life changing for me in many ways, not just monetarily, and I love having that acknowledgment of my stake on the blockchain as a reminder of this wild ride. Thanks for reading. Good night, Steemit!

Congratulations.

If you have stories to tell, or better yet, photos to show of the mining town where you were born and raised, it would be interesting to hear and see them.

Hi Lars, you are right ... Steemit is the right place to market a product at no cost.
I like to read your posts because it adds to my insight about the life of a multi-talented person like you. Having 10,000 is very great. Have a nice day, sir.

Hey, congrats on the milestone. That is pretty awesome! The only reason I hit 10k is because I leased some delegations. I have a ways to go before I am there I think. I agree with you. Passive income is where it is at!
