He affirms a well-known law of Physics, that matter is neither created nor destroyed, but only transformed.

IMG_9461_copia.jpg

This same law can also be applied to an artistic, historical and cultural heritage that has not always known how to be valued in its entirety and on many occasions, perhaps too many, has been subjected to the indifference of being simply regarded as 'old stones' .

To give you an idea, I present the main entrance to the cemetery of the well-known Segovian town of Ayllón.
IMG_9463_copia.jpg

An entrance that, as you will see, is made up of some singular remains of Romanesque art, which give it an aspect that could be said to be special.

IMG_9473_copia.jpg

These remains are known to have belonged to a disappeared hermitage, that of San Nicolás, a 12th century masterpiece, incomprehensibly reviled and left to lose by the responsible authorities.

IMG_9471_copia.jpg

The curious thing about the subject, what also reveals not only the selfishness but also the lack of culture and common sense, is that possibly many of its remains serve, today, as vulgar decorations in the garden of the people's chalet wealthy, whose lack of sensitivity and respect for a supposedly common and therefore popular heritage is notoriously discouraging.

These sculptures are far from being just old stones, I observe for example the dragons have details in their appearance, in the first photo I see a design on the wall, it is undoubted that the time has done a little damage, but the images are visible , a heritage like this should be restored, but I think it's a matter for governments, I don't know how it works, but they are valuable because they have representation

They would have been more valuable if they had been left where they were, because everything had a relationship and meaning. They were like books open to the attention of the people. Now it has simply become fragments of a puzzle, wedged together without rhyme or reason and miserably forgotten.

Hi @juancar347 your photos of the very old fence, gate and lovely cross brought so many wonderful memories of my time I spent walking in Spain. I would love to go back to visit one day when the world opens again. Thank you 🙏
