Before Sunrise on the Mountain / Vor Sonnenaufgang am Berg

Cloudless and yet beautiful ... and I have been the only one on the mountain again :)

Wolkenlos und doch wunderschön ... und ich war wieder der einzige am Berg :)

Last Saturday, after a few years, I hiked once again up to my favorite mountain peak: The Hochstadel lies in my hometown Oberdrauburg on the border between Carinthia and East Tyrol and is 2,681 meters high.

Up to the Hochstadel mountain pasture I drove on the forest road (actually driving ban), and shortly after 04:30 am I started hiking towards the summit, where I arrived shortly before 7 o'clock. Sunrise was around 7:30, but the half hour before that was nicer, to be honest.

The sunrise was less spectacular due to lack of clouds, but the fog, which formed only shortly before my summit victory in the valley, gave the picture before and after sunrise that extra something.

The first other hikers I met only half way back to the mountain pasture.

Thank you so much for these words, @tijntje 🙂
I know, what you mean, but do you want to know what was even better than the sunrise? The peace of being alone on the mountain was amazing.

That is something I will believe for sure. Must be so great having this view in combination with just rest and piece around you. Something I love about being in the mountains, the quietness you can find there.

Thanks for the !BEER

Thank you so much for your nice comment, @outlinez 🙂
Some days taking photos is so easy - at first I thought, that I could forget to take good photos, because there were absolutely no clouds, but then the fog came and everything was good 😉

Amazing sir johannpiber! This could be on the cover of a magazine. But if this is your favorite mountain, why has it been years since you went up there?

0

avatar

First: Thank you very much, that you like the photo that much, @janton 🙂🙂🙂

You asked a very good question. My answer is, that I was just too lazy and I think, I wouldn't have had enough power to hike up there, since I was smoking a lot and I have not done any sports until I quit smoking last year. That's my only reason ;)

But: I have been so often up there when I was younger, that I do know this mountain so well. My family has spent all Summer holidays up there, and when I was older I have been on that mountain alone with the family, which ran the restaurant on the mountain pasture.

!BEER

Oh there is a restaurant up there? Have you posted about that?

It's a cottage, a bothy (Google translation ;) where hikers can eat and sleep and drink, sing and have fun :) Friends of my parent ran it for many years and they had children in may age, so I haven't been alone.
No, I haven't posted about it yet, but I might do so when I'm up there again next year. This time I have only photographed the mountain and the landscape.

That sounds like a very nice type of cottage, too bad we have no photos of them. That will be a very interesting post when you get around to it. I hope I'm still on steemit when you finally do. 😁

Nice cottage, isn't it, and it has not changed much from the outside since it was built many years ago :)

!BEER

Is that one that they live in all year or just part of the year because of heavy snow?

0

They are there from June to September or October, depending on the weather. In wintertime there is a room open as emergency shelter for snow hikers, who need it.

!BEER

Oh I see. Snow hikers? Who would be dumb enough to be hiking in 60 ft high snow? lol. That sentence is to be ignored if you are a snow hiker. lol.

0

The surface of the snow is more or less frozen, so that you can walk with snow shoes or skis. And it's not everywhere so high, mostly in ditches, where the wind has blown up the snow.
And I like to walk in the snow 😉

That is still a hard work out is it not sir johannpiber? I mean I know you are in great shape but for the regular Joe it might be very difficult. lol.
I would think most people in the high elevations have snow mobiles?

0

Some people have snow mobiles, but as I said, just for fun. I think, a "regular Joe" won't go snow hiking or back country skiing ;)

!BEER

That is probably true about a regular Joe unless he is out of beer and forced to hike to the nearest store! I must have missed your comment saying that the snow mobiles are just for fun.

I watch a program on tv sometimes about people in Alaska and the Artic circle and the only means of transportation is the snow mobile and they pull a sled behind it to haul firewood and all kinds of supplies.

0

;) you cannot compare Alaska with Austria, because we don't have so long Winters here and Austria is much smaller. We do have roads to almost all houses and the snow is always cleared from the streets as fast as possible ... and so on ;) lol

Exactly sir johannpiber and guten morgen to you too although you might even be off work already! I'm just getting going. Mrs. J. wants me to watch an investment webinar this morning and then I gotta get to work outside painting a fence so I won't be on steemit much today. Which is ok, steemit probably needs a break from me!

So you will have a busy day today. Mrs. J wants you to use computer time for something useful, for something, that might really bring some money home, I think 😉
And she wants you to do something outside on the fresh air. She only wants the best for you, my friend.

Steemit will miss you, but you will come back soon, I am sure 🙂

Yeah if steemit does not start producing some gains I think she wants me to get a job like in the real world, that would suck. lol.

The guy that wrote the post about the bad numbers for steemit right now, that's what happened to him. He has invested alot of money in steem but his wife wanted him to get a job so he did.

He has routes where he goes and services vending machines. Pretty decent money and he's mostly on his own.

I have done it different: I have a job and I didn't invest so much 🙂
But if the Steem doesn't raise or Steemit will not give me some profit sometime next year I will also have to think it all over.

Well you did good as far as buying low then. Lots of people bought large amounts when it was $5. lol. I think it is 14 cents today.

Yes, I think 14 cents are quite right. Correct, I bought at a low price, but I thought the price would go up, and up, and up... instead of down, and down, and down... 😉

But I am glad I bought with money I had and which I would have spent for needless things otherwise 😉
