LIGHTROOM UPDATES

Lightroom Classic got a large set of updates this week (Adobe Blog)... and this one wasn't even being advertised at all as a big feature but it is gonna change my life! Because it will save me hours upon hours.

PANORAMA MANIAC

If you're new to my pictures I do a TON of panoramas. I even have a fancy panorama tripod that I love. I'll often do more panoramas than any other type of picture. Then getting home and merging them all is a bit of a pain even on lightroom which is faster than most others. I've often thought they should do a batch system where you say merge this one and that one in sequential order while I do other things.

Well now they have it...

ONE SMALL FIX

They still should give us the option at going through the settings of each in order then run the batch process. But for now it's only all or nothing probably with the last setting you had for the previous panorma. So it is still a flawed system. But for the most part I like cylentrical and sometimes I mess with the slider but the compromise of not messing with the slider in order to save many hours that's one i'm willing to take for now.

THE TEST

I chose a set of 13 panoramas from an evening landscape shoot where I mostly didn't use a tripod (that matters because that means they take longer to merge. But also means they are smaller panoramas usually 2-10 images at most. Like 63 images in total.
Previously I'd grab a good book and open up the settings for a picture tweak it real quick then merge...after a little bit i'd start another one. And in between kinda sorta read a book or play some @steemmonsters. It'd take me... let's say an hour of kinda useless very distracted time to do these 13 pictures. Maybe less depends on how closely i'd watch the process.

  • Stated process at 9:42am ...
  • Ended process att 9:54am

GPU ACCELERATION

Perhaps this as well has sped up the process ... i'm not sure... but i'm very happy with the overall results regardless.

YOUR FAVORITE UPDATE

Do you have a new favorite update that you're using?
I may use the color coding for categories/labels... we shall see.

Large 10 image panorama... probably should click on it to see it bigger ... assuming you use steempeak.com

Wow, nice! I saw the update coming in yesterday but didn't look into it yet, but that's a fantastic feature!

Barely had a chance to load up some photos last night, my initial impression was that it was faster loading photos in LIbrary and Develop module with GPU acceleration turned on. I upgraded recently to an 8GB GPU so it's nice to be able to finally use some of that power. I really like the idea of color coding collections, I think I'll use that one a lot.
