Maru's First Solo Exhibit

@spintwister and I went to visit the first solo art exhibit of Maru at the Morning Light Art Gallery in Davao City. We weren't able to attend the opening reception so we just went days after the opening.

Flowers everywheeeere

These pieces on the wall show intricate and vibrant flowers that were beautifully painted. The way they were painted was really impressive as to me they were so neat and obviously done with passion.

This one... I'm not sure if she's neat and done with passion. XD Just kiddiiiinnngggg.

This one is my favorite. To me, it speaks about body insecurities. Society gives a lot of pressure to women (especially the young ones) to have a perfect body. Flawless, curvy, tight and soft skin, hairless, fair skin... the list goes on. These unrealistic expectations, I believe, made a lot of girls insecure about their bodies (at least that's what happened to me) which made them want to change themselves to be seen as beautiful. It takes a lot of steps to get out of that insecurity prison. This piece, to me, is about being able to break free from that.

There's this cute spot where you could overthink your bad decisions in life. It has this warm and relaxing vibe, perfect for artsies. :P

And they had plants! :p

For those who live or currently in Davao: If you want to see them in person, you still have a week left. The exhibit runs until November 26, 2019. There is so much that you're missing (they aren't in the pics :p).
