Some photos I took today (with a 40 year old lens)

(Edited)

Hi!

I visited Nastola today, and yes, the building I posted in the OPED post was indeed from the same trip to Nastola. :)

Here's one I took when driving away from Nastola. Yes I had to stop for this. It isn't possible to shoot good photos on a DSLR while driving. (And it would be dangerous, and illegal too. Don't do it guys!)

The road I took.

Yes, I had to return empty handed sort of, as I noticed I didn't have much time if I was to go to the grocery store too (Vera was kind enough to give me a list of groceries to get.)

Then, after I had gone shopping and returned with some pea soup, I went out again and this time shot in our own neighbourhood, more precisely our apartment building's front yard.

Decided to change lenses.

The previous photos were all shot on the Sigma 50mm ART f/1.4 lens, but I wanted to try my luck with the 40 year old Super Carenar (MC 1:2.8 f=135mm) lens I once got from my father.

For a 40 year old lens, it delivers pleasantly sharp images. (If I can get the trap focus on my camera to work.)

Mossy stone

It does produce some glare though, but I don't mind that, unless the sun is shining really brightly right onto the lens.

Roots
Roots

The path that leads to the forest
The path that leads to the forest

Songbird in the distance...

Even when cropped...

...is a common chaffinch.

...the chromatic aberration is somewhat noticeable but much more subtle, and definitely far from as horrible as it is on the Canon EF 75-300. The only issue I think, is the reach of the lens. And as a prime, its fixed focal length 135mm often gets in the way. It's mostly either too long, or too short.

Fieldfare

And in nature photography, you may have guessed it. It being 40 years old it lacks auto-focus, and being manual in pretty much all the other ways too, shooting moving animals with it may prove a bit difficult. ;)

The fieldfare in the above image didn't want me to photo her so she flew away, and so did plenty of other beautiful birds. Mostly, as soon as I got the aperture, ISO sensitivity, shutter speed and focus set, the bird was already gone.

But now I'm drained, so I'll continue on this subject on some other day.

Thanks for reading this through! I really appreciate it!

See you guys tomorrow!

I am grateful for each follower I have, but I personally can't follow each and every one of them, I honestly need to be a bit picky what I read here, as I have a life I'd like to have time for too.

wonderful photography,
sir I want to ask you a question,
Can we use previously taken images in your #onephotodaily initiative? or It is necessary to take a new one?

I use fresh photos I shoot daily. That's what the challenge is about, to get better in photography, not to showcase old photos. It's a self-improvement strategy.

You were still able to get the picture of the bird even though it flew away. I think birds are difficult to shoot especially when they notice you are closer to them and if their survival instinct is triggered at that moment.

Nice!

The point of view seems somewhat high. Did you shoot these from a window of a truck or something?

They are nice photos. I'd also like to see these from a lower perspective. Oh, and one more thing, you need to have the horizon leveled, it's a bit skewed to the right. other than that, they are both very good photos.

I couldn't help but notice that all of your 30 commenters were bots, and from the looks of it all the >200 votes too.

I'm not sure, but I think you would agree that doesn't look very inviting from a visitor's point of view. It hurts to me to say this, but it's probable that the reason you like to visit my blog is probably the same reason you have no organic votes.

People don't see your blog as an engaging nor an interesting one because all people see you do is employing a bunch of bidbots, gaming the system, and not spending that time into creating content they'd like to see.

Consider why you read my blog, what made you stay and even engage with me in a comment. Then ask yourself this question: "if you were a visitor on your own blog, would you stay, or find something else that's more interesting?"

As for the photo... The thing near the upper left corner, what is that?

Don't misunderstand me brother
My intention was not to collect so much 200+ votes. I am just trying to earn some SBD and saving for future's big invest. As i am new so its hard for me get help even our own country people are also selfish. They just want to help with very little information, and some other want to help if there is cause of profit. So i research how i can earn little little amount from here. So i searched and found some are giving 0.01$ vote or 0.02$ vote by sending them 0.01 SBD or 0.003 SBD. I do job where i earn but that i have to spend for my family with 2 kids, wife, father, mother, brother. So i can not invest big amount in steemit.
My plan is to collect and save some SBD and then only i will Bid with good big bots ( 3 SBD - 15 SBD - 20++ SBD) and then i will time out to write my content.
My 3rd plan was to post Daily natural photos.
My 2nd plan was to write content named Daily life book .
And my 1st plan was to write content about oracle programming.
I did my IT Scholarship with DDD (Database Design and Development), so i want to start writing with this subject and build Oracle school on Steemit.
From the very first i wanted to write with my content. But i observe its not so easy to make my post popular and get attention to others. Its a long way run. i don't even know how can i reach the news to community that i do write content. When i don't find any way then i start with earning little little money with bot votes and this is not my mission.

The question you asked to me, "if i was a visitor on my own blog...?" . Answer is a Big NO.
I must go somewhere else where i get something with my interest. Like that i found your blog and got interested.

At my 1st post, 2nd post, 3rd post i did not use bot votes. I tried to get attention of people from facebook, facebook group. With member 10k+ group i share my post and probably my post was not visited by a single visitor. from that group. And my country's steemian's are almost money minded. So only if i told them "You will get some money if you visit my post" then may be i got chance to find visitors. someone added me on a facebook chat messenger with 10 members. They used to exchange vote each other's post and comment. But it not long last.

Today i post with subject "Amazing website (Alternative application) part 3". 1st 1 hour i waited.
Spread the post to some group, in discord post promotion. When i did not get any visitors from there then i send SBD to bots and got some votes.

You may observed that i don't spam in any post , comment. i do reply some people's blog and discuss about their related post subject. i do like real comment, not spam.
i wish one day i will not need these little bot votes for little money.

in that photo on upper left may be that was a 'torn cement bag's part'.
This photo is from inside our house boundary. @gamer00

The question you asked to me, "if i was a visitor on my own blog...?" . Answer is a Big NO.
I must go somewhere else where i get something with my interest. Like that i found your blog and got interested.

That I think, is why you don't get many organic followers. I understand that it feels discouraging that people do not come to your blog no matter what you do, but I also think that you must understand it is not an easy task for anyone. No-one hops on to Steem and starts raking in money from the day one. (Well maybe some Youtube celebrities can. But that isn't my point.)

With or without my investment on steem I still had to work my butt off to deliver actual things of interest for other people to follow up and read upon, and to build a following. I made an effort to post daily, and I succeeded. Photography is kind of my forté but I have other qualities too I haven't yet explored. I could have gone with those if I weren't a photographer.

What I'm trying to get at, is that no matter what the business we embark upon, it is always hard work. And I am not trying to disparage you by saying what you do isn't work. It's just that by doing what you do, you scare away the real people, and likely cause damage to the whole steem platform. In a way you are eating away your own potential future by trying to go for the easy profit.

At the same time you lose time and money employing bots to do the same thing living human beings would do for free if you just concentrated that same effort in making more interesting daily content.

...to the photo...

'torn cement bag's part'.

Also known as a distraction. When you compose a photo, you should check if there's anything distracting and then compose the shot in a way that the distractions don't get into the photo. (Or just clean the yard up before taking any photos.) That way your photo subject (the big thing, your message) gets much more pronounced and doesn't suffer from the distraction.

I already posted some tips in a comment on your other two photos, so I will not go through that again and repeat myself.

But you should really read the advice on the page @MarkkuJantunen had linked, as that's really very good info for learning composition.

See ya!

@gamer00 , What you said is 100% right. i do believe that. It took time and lose energy.
i should work hard for making good content.
Its true that, getting little profit with small bot votes is not my goal.
I just start that for some profit as beginners.
I will stop that and start to work for real content.

And i will try to follow the rules of capturing photos.

Thanks for giving me time by writing such kind suggestion and being there for me :)

If you are serious about learning photography...

I would like you to first identify what the subject is you are trying to photograph, and then start with that.

Secondly, learn about the Rule of thirds in composition.

Also, third thing, level your photos, keep the horizon straight.

I believe these bits of advice will be quite enough for any beginning photographer for a first lesson. :)

Honesty is always good. But truth be said, I already knew that. That's why I wrote what I wrote. The photos themselves are not bad, it's just that the lens doesn't actually focus really well. I may need to tweak the software on my camera to fine-tune the trap focus feature. It's a sharp lens when it gets it right.

The fact that you got the lens from your dad, it's 40 years old and still captures a very beautiful image says a lot about your abilities and the that of the lens for it's age. Good job. I appreciate these for the effort they took.

The old lens captured those purple flowers nicely! I forgot there was no auto focus for old lens!
But the atmosphere is these birds and spring leaves is very warm. These photos are very good for me to study and learn something new!! Thanks.
