Dilapidated Vologda. Spinners Street

Spinners Street in Vologda is located in the microdistrict of Flax Mill Village. The length of the street is about 350 meters. In this place, dilapidated two-story wooden apartment buildings have been preserved.

The houses are really very dilapidated, because on Spinners Street and next to it there are a lot of wastelands. If you look at Yandex or Google panoramas, then the pictures still have a lot of houses.

The layout of these houses is interesting. Such a feeling judging by the appearance that each apartment has a separate entrance. Or these are separate entrances to the first and second floors.

In the yards there are no gardens, no sheds, no baths. Shabby houses are adjacent to the new stone ones.

Also, there are almost no cars in the yards.

In general, this is an endangered type of houses.

Our century is a century of stone houses. All wood is rapidly disappearing.

I have already seen barracks with balconies, but for the first time with loggias!

As often happens, a loggia or balcony serves to store the most unnecessary things in the house.

On the opposite side of the street stands the Stalinist barrack of the corridor type.

Next to it is a large wasteland.

I also had the following thought: I saw many different houses, some of them better, some worse of condition. It turns out that if you take care of the house, maintain it and make repairs on time, then you can save it much longer. That is, all these dilapidated houses were very poorly maintained at the time, perhaps not even served at all.

Barack is a pre-fabricated and most often temporary housing. Such houses are designed for operation no more than 20 years. It turns out that in those years people didn’t think about the future.

Such houses are replaced by multi-unit frame houses. In terms of safety of living in them, they can even be inferior to the old barracks.
