New Film Photos and...

...and I’m not impressed. Considering I have a tendency to underexpose photos, I was baffled how pale most of them turned out. There were only a couple pictures that were darker but even some night shots didn’t have true black at all! The film by the way is Kodak T-max 400.

I started to investigate why the images are like this and apparently the whole film has been underdeveloped by the lab. Only my habit of underexposing images probably saved them a little. Of course there was also a fair bit of just really bad images, all my own doing.

Along with the images being really pale, many of them had these weird brown lines on them, like I’m pointing out in the image below. Not great as I payed 57€ from this amazing service. If you want it done right, you gotta do it yourself. Adding film developing stuff and a scanner on my shopping list asap.

I will be showing you some more of these images once I take pictures of them and do some photoshop to bring out more detail to them, like they should have from the get go.

Yes, often! Really really bad ones, but I choose not to share them. I don’t need that kind of energy in the blockchain 😂

Haha, yeah, you're probably right, I'm not sure I would either. 🙄

Or maybe you should, from time to time, as to remind people getting great shots is not that easy of a thing?

The price of the cost of real unique glitches are expensive compared to digital ones. =P
Do you need it as an artist? Do you prefer it as an artist?
Do people need it? Do people prefer it? Can people pay these prices?

Film's a different animal. I read somewhere that it's true, developers have a sort of 'visual bias' when it comes to the photo's disposition! It's curious to hear that your shop underdeveloped your batch, but it's not unheard of! Italian shops have a way of making photos appear like Renaissance era work. I think I might like to try it.

Eve, have you thought of grabbing a scanner for your digitizing needs? It may be another expense, but it could save some labor making your prints shareable. I put down a pretty penny, but it's saving me a ton from fixed costs - my shop doesn't have to give CD's anymore for my photos either! Environmentally friendly?

I also would like to extend my offer again, I remember some of your prints catching my interest, from one artist to another - would you like to establish a trade one of these days? It'd be an honor to see my work travel distances to those appreciative. I also admit, I would like your portraiture as a reminder of what one is capable of when determined. Its object permanence holds significance too. It'd be an immutable, [eveuncovered] original.

Maybe its time to start developing in your own dark-room...

I am not gonna make a dark room, which you only need if you make the actual prints, but I am seriously considering developing my own film and then just scanning it.
