Ice Ice Baby

Macro shots of frozen windows, they real pretty. Some formations look like feathers and leaves, others flowers and some like the skin texture of an exotic animal, all equally interesting.

I'm sure somewhere there are scientists that exclusively examine ice formations and what kind of conditions create the different sort of shapes.

Shot with the Nikon D750 and Sigma 105mm f/2.8 macro.

You need to be more specific, what kind of time? The 21st century? 😝

I like winter, it’s not that hard to deal with, just put on proper winter gear when going out and you won’t feel cold even when it’s -20 degrees Celsius.

Wao that's nice and isn't the heat too much to bare when you are too guided with the winter gear

It’s always easier to take some clothes off than be freezing because you didn’t put on enough.

Growing up, I remember when we had single pane windows and every morning I'd get up and look at the patterns. My room faced South. So almost every evening, the sun had melted it away.

It was like an Etch-A-Sketch for Mother Nature.

Single pane windows in Canada, that’s brutal! These are luckily just the windows in the porch so I don’t have to freeze inside 😁

Yup, three "life changing" events I can remember growing up were:

  • getting new windows that didn't leak
  • getting air conditioning
  • getting cable

Small town Canada in the 70's and 80's

We still haven’t gotten into the air con thing here, very few people have them.

I remember when we got the fourth channel and our neighbours didn’t because the signal didn’t reach down hill. Precious times those were.

Haha. We only had 4 channels. Almost. There was one channel that we could only get if the sky was cloudy.

We also had radio stations that turned down their power at night. So, we could receive them during the day, but at 8PM, we basically only got static.

It always amazes me how many forms water can take. As an ice sculptor, I sometimes feel ashamed to put my mark to it. Great shoots Eve.

Oh that’s so cool, pun intented. I don’t know if this is a stupid guestion but where do you get the ice from? I assume you are not making huge ice blocks in your home freezer 😅
