The Deranged Photography Contest is back and on Palnet with dope rewards!
Let's get ready for the fun
The past 6 months have been pretty hectic for me, but I have been giving it a lot of thought lately, and I have wanted to bring back my Deranged Photography Contest for a while now, and Palnet is the perfect place to do so. I have been thoroughly impressed with everything I have seen from everyone involved in making this place such a fun and successful place to be.
So with the photo contest returning, the prize pool is going to be a lot different than it used to be. Instead of Steem or SBD as rewards, I will be giving out PAL each week to the winners. If you aren't familiar with how my photo contest was set up, I have it broken down into three tiers for competition.
There is a professional tier for the professional photographers to compete against each other in and this tier yields the highest rewards. Then there is an amateur tier for more of an up and coming photographer that is pushing their skills. Then there is the beginner tier, where those just entering photography and those who feel their skills may be lacking, or their equipment is lacking. As you progress through each tier and move higher, so do the rewards, but also does the competition. Having three tiers gives each person more of a level playing field to compete in against others of their own skill levels and a chance to earn rewards for their contributions to the contest.
Macro Magic
The first theme is going to be Macro Photography. Macro is all about getting up close to what you are taking pictures of and showing the viewer the world in a different way. When you get to up close to this level, things can really start to look amazing. It is all about slowing down and taking the time to look for the littlest things in the world. Have a great time because the world of macro can be really a ton of fun.
How is the Deranged Photography Contest set up?
The contest will be broken up into three different tiers. Each will have a different payout for the winners based on what tier you enter into. Here is a breakdown of the rewards based on the tiers:
Place | Professional | Amateur | Beginner |
---|---|---|---|
1st | 5 PAL | 4 PAL | 3 PAL |
2nd | 3 PAL | 2.5 PAL | 2 PAL |
3rd | 2 PAL | 1.5 PAL | 1 PAL |
Each contest will be open for submissions for 6 days after the post is made and then closes at 0100 UTC (1800 MST) on the 6th day.
This will give me and any guest judges time to judge the submissions and create the post announcing the winners.
How to enter
When you enter a photo in the competition, you will state what tier you want to be judged in and locked in for the month at that level.
For example if you enter a photo, you drop the photo in the comment section, state what level of photographer you are, and then give a description of the photograph.
That's pretty much it, drop a photo in the comment section of this post and state your tier. If you want to make a separate post for your entry as well, that is fine, but for your entry to be valid, your photo and tier must be in here in the comment section of this post. If you do make a separate post, be sure to use the #palnet tag.
Additional Notes
Only one submission per contest. Extra submissions will be ignored.
You can switch your tier ONE time per month, but only if you are moving up into a higher tier, for example if you are currently in the amateur tier, but you think that you have a photograph that you want to enter in the professional tier, you can state that you are changing your tier to professional. You will then be locked into the new tier for the remainder of the month. You are not able to move down to a lower tier, like going from amateur to the beginner tier.
If you do not state wish tier you want to be judged in for the month, I will leave a comment to remind you to do so, but if you don't respond, you will be assigned to a tier and locked in for that month.
Plagiarism will not be tolerated in any form. All submissions must be your own work. I will investigate every entry and if you are caught plagiarizing, not only will you be blacklisted from competing from any future contests, but you will be reported to @steemcleaners as well. It is not worth it to try and cheat, especially with the 3 tier set up where everyone has an equal shot of winning.
Thank you to the sponsors
I want to give a huge thank you to @isaria and @swelker101 for helping to make this contest possible. You guys are awesome and do so much for the community here. Keep up the awesome work that you both do each day.
Thank you to everyone that will be participating. The contest wouldn't be around without your great submissions!
I can't believe it!
It was just a few hours ago that I was thinking about you and what a pity it was that you stopped your contest. And now this!
I am really happy for your comeback and although I don't know what PAL is, I would like to have the pleasure of the first entry of the new era of the Deranged Photography Contest!
I took this one about a month ago at the garden of my house (ex-house by now). A bulimic bee on a blooming chicory :)
Professional tier, although I still need a lot of work to get there!
Good luck with the contest!
Awesome shot!! PAL is another coin that you can earn while posting on Steemit. You can either log into the Palnet.io front end instead of logging into Steemit and post through there or just use the #palnet tag on your posts. You can earn PAL side by side with Steem as you post and stake PAL just as you stake Steem. Or you can trade PAL on Steem Engine.
Thanks, it sounds good. I just took my first PAL from the claimdrop :)
Here is my entry for the amateur tier. Good luck to all and thank you to @derangedvisions for running the contest!

Greetings to all.
Awesome shot. It is great to see some of your photography again!
Thank you so much mate.
Here’s a photo I took with my iPhone at the Cambridge Botanic Garden recently. I’m an amateur and I guess I need a camera with a macro lens! 😊
I've never seen one of these flowers in real life. They are so cool looking. Hopefully one day I can take some pictures of my own of them.
NOTE: This account @swelker101 keeps threatening me! @aggroad thanks! Can you please block him from flagging me, that is not fair!
My vote does not work on him, why should his vote work on me???

Here is my letter to our Leader!
Hope she can help us all!
Hi @elipowell, this guy keeps threatening me, trying to antagonize me after I said I would not flag or bother anyone anymore if he/they stop!
I will stop flagging innocent comments, however when I see @swelker101 flagging me every time it makes me want to retalliate!
Today they DDOS my replies on steemit so I can't see them!
It is totally obvious which accounts to ban/block! Please for everybody!

Camera: My Google Pixel (1) phone... LOL!
Title: Snowflakes
I have a bunch of these... none really had a bunch of great, clear images of the snowflakes... but this one looks pretty good.
It was so cool that day! I could literally SEE all the individual snowflakes! They were ALL completely different!
Now, capturing them? Another story. I had to catch the light just right to get them to reflect and show their true colors.
I have a further away shot where you can see the individual ones better, but they are very small... not close up.
I love looking at things SUPER close. Particularly nature... nature is cool. 😎
Awesome. I have always wanted to get some close up shots of snowflakes, but when it is winter time, I always get too cold and wuss out.
Thanks for starting this awesome contest. I am really appreciate your work as well. I am happy to see you again. Someday back a clicked few close shot on my mobile phone that i wanna present today.
Well, this this my entry for Deranged Photography Contest
My tier is beginner.
Thank you.
Hey mate, nice to see you are back with your contest :)
The Art of Frost
Magic Canon 1:5 macro lens allows you to get deep into micro world. Last winter got the moment of very light snowing on a very low temperature. Just used a small mirror and dropped some snowflakes on it. And voila.. all the rest is only matter of practice and trials..
Enjoy!

I missed your contests. And I am happy you are back with my favourite theme - macro.
I put myself in amateur tier. My camera is still the smarrphone - Samsung J5 and for the macro shots I use extra lens clipped to the phone.
The butterfly stayed long enough on the flower and let me make several clicks. It is always challenging to photograph butterflies and to focus I need to get closer to it. So the time is short and I had to be quick and make as many shots as possible.
Good luck everyone!
