Meet Rusty
Our baby
Meet Rusty. He is of the two kittens my wife and I found last night on our walk. We weren't expecting to come back from our walk and double the amount of cats we have in our home, but we couldn't leave these two little guys outside on their own. I blame @isaria for this because of all of her cat talk and all of the cats she has rescued lately.
Why did we name him Rusty?
Rusty was the nickname of my best friend Scott that had passed away over two years ago now. When I was giving the kitten a bath last night, my daughter and I were talking about names for him and she suggested naming him Rusty in memory of Scott. Scott was like an uncle to her and she really took it hard when he passed.
This was a picture I took of him when we went to Florida together to speak at a Military Veterans conference. Scott was a Marine that had been injured in a IED blast and suffered from some pretty bad injuries from it for the remaining time he had left in his life. He is one of the few people that I have shared my whole story with and that really knows me.
Now my daughter and I have our own little Rusty to remind us of him.

In my case, it is challenging to be with just one dog.
Dogs can be a handful as well. But they are a ton of fun.

Thank you for taking the little ones in! It's very easy to become a "cat household;" sometimes I think it's also an "artist thing." I have known lots and lots of artists who have multiple cats... I'm not sure what the connection is, but it seems to fit. We have had as many as five; currently "only" two.

Beautiful reason to name your new cutie-pie Rusty. May he bring you and your family much peace and fun. My first cat (she) was also called Rusty, but for far more rustic reasons (with a nose the colour of your kitty). Still, thanks to felines being felines I felt an instant connect with your pain and amazing recovery.

O this is wonderful - I am a cat fanatic and also said only one and then 2 just pitched up = thank you for giving him a second chance. I am sure Scott would be so proud to have a kitten named after him.
With this name, he will grow up a real fighter!
