The discreet charm of abandoned things - EPISODE 8 - THE AQUATIC DRIVE

avatar

... I took these pictures in Liznjan ... a village situated within walking distance from my hometown ... about 2 - 3 kilometers, that is... and the year was 2006 ... 2008 ... or some year near those ...
DSC02371malo.jpg
... this wonderfull white car, Yugo, I think 45, but could be some other two-digit number ... produced in the area ... ok, not exactly here, but was made in Yugoslavia, a place that once we called home ...
DSC02378malo.jpg
... suddenly appeared in the muddy shallow lagoon near the fisherman's port of Liznjan ...
AQUATIC CAR GIFdef.gif
... it had the word '' POLICIJA '' which means '' POLICE '' written on its side ... but with its hi-tech amphibian characteristics, really looked more like a James Bond vehicle, left there after the long and dangerous underwater chase through the Adriatic sea ...
DSC02390malo.jpg
... and was very cool and photogenic with the coastal reeds in the background ...
( Enlargeable )
... the mysterious amphibian car stayed there for a few months during the winter ... and then ... suddenly as it appeared ... one day ... or maybe it was at night ... the strange Yugo ... disappeared ...
( Enlargeable )
... but not completely ... one of the four wheels stayed in the shallow bay for many more seasons ...
DSC02388malo.jpg
... to remind us that this wasn't just a dream ... or a collective hallucination ... and still to these days, drunk or stoned ( or both ) teenagers and merry local fishermen... sometimes swear they saw a strange transparent vehicle, like a car-shaped jellyfish, driving through the bay ... or even in deeper waters some times ... it became some sort of '' The Flying Dutchman'' variation with a technologic twist ...
... and that's it, hope you enjoyed this little, almost urban legend from my area ... have a good drive .. or dive ... wherever you are ... as always in these posts on Steemit ... these old photographs, and the new little GIF made from some of those old shots ... are my work ... THE END

Looks a lot like a Citi Golf. Or perhaps those were copied and renamed

(Edited)

:) I saw Citi Golf on Google now ... yes, very similar design ... but many cars had and still have very similar designs, from time to time comes out something iconic and original, but most cars are variations with small differences.

This is true, we know it as something made by Volkswagen but designs and parts definitely get sold and traded around
