Photos from the beach
Hello, and welcome to my page, eh!
This post is an attempt to make a creative photography post for Creative Coin. Let me start by saying that I am not a photographer, I mostly use my camera to give visual references to whatever I might be talking about in a post. I was talking in discord chat about a few of the pictures that I had taken on the beach of Great Sand Bay, and it was suggested to me that I should try editing them to see how they would come out for creative photography. I very seldom edit my photos, but I thought I should at least give it a try to see what I could come up with. I don't have any editing software other than what comes with Windows 10, so there's nothing too fancy with the edits. I mostly tried to enhance the clarity and the color in the images. The camera that I use is a compact snapshot camera, a Nikon Coolpix L-19. It's decent, but it's not a photographers type of camera.
First, I'd like to show you a picture of Great Sand Bay, where I took my "creative" photos. Great Sand Bay is located on Lake Superior, on the north shore of Upper Michigan's Keweenaw peninsula, between the towns of Eagle River and Eagle Harbor. This picture is not edited.
The beach is covered with basalt pebbles with occasional bits of Lake Superior agate and a few other types of stone. The beach is backed by the largest sand dune formations on the Keweenaw peninsula, thus the name, Great Sand Bay.
There's lots of various bits and pieces of drift wood and feathers on the beach, as you would expect, and I decided to see if I could get a few "creative" pictures of some of it. Here's a few of the pictures that I came up with.
The first one is a bit of a close up shot of an interesting piece of driftwood. This piece of driftwood is actually what got me thinking about taking some close up photos. I must admit, I was thinking about how @torico likes wood textures when I took this photo. This is the un-edited photo.
After a bit of editing. The editing really brings out the blue in some of the rocks.
The next picture was a close up of the same driftwood piece. This is the edited photo. This is just a cool little piece of driftwood!
Here's another driftwood picture, next to a couple of contrasting pebbles. The yellow pebble is low grade Lake Superior agate. That stuff is fairly common. It's the nice agates that require searching to find.
This is the edited photo.
I decided to try a photo with a feather to see how it would come out. This is the edited photo.
Then, for something a bit different, I tried a posed picture. I put a small piece of driftwood next to a feather and took a couple of pictures at different angles to see what I could come up with. I liked this angle the best, so I did the editing on this photo. Here's the un-edited photo.
After a bit of editing.
Then I tried a black and white edit, just for the heck of it.
One more picture. I happened to notice this fine fellow as I was working on my close up photos, so I tried to get a picture of it. It kept moving while I was trying to get a picture, but it finally stopped long enough for me to take a picture. This is not edited.
That's all I have for this post, thanks for stopping by to check it out.
Great job on the edits. It really brings the photos to life.
Thank you!
