Roadtrip to Reunion

And a Viking Meal to Seal the Deal...

Hyde Park, Sydney Australia

Over the weekend, my youngest daughter and I traveled to Sydney on a road-trip that would see all my children reunited in the same city, for the first time in what (we think) has been 6 years.

The main purpose of the trip was to catch up with my son, who had flown in from Melbourne, bringing his girlfriend to meet 'the family' for the first time.... and, what can I say? My son has excellent taste so, of course, she wins my nod of approval and was welcomed with open arms...

After dinner, I took a stroll through Hyde Park, looking for some interesting night scenes to photograph.

Despite the fact that this was once my teenage stomping ground, I couldn't help but feel a little self-conscious when starting to take my camera out of the bag. While I was never in any danger, I definitely felt my age and found myself, very aware of voices wafting from 'the shadows' or from 'the other side of the hedges'...

Although, I still managed to have a little fun...

'PUNK' IS NOT DEAD...!

One snippet that I did take-away from my mini photo-tour, is to spend some 'a lot' more time learning how to use the manual settings on my camera and to experiment with shooting with different settings in dark, night-time scenes.

In many photos, the atmosphere was ruined by having the flash trigger when I didn't want it to or when I had envisioned the 'mood' without a flash... sometimes it produced a better result, and sometimes NOT...

Being born and bred in Sydney... it's a city that will always retain it's charm and beauty in my eyes. Part of that charm comes from abundance of older buildings scattered among modern design, however the feeling of nostalgia is only enhanced by the features that have survived and are still displayed throughout the city and parks of Sydney.

Anyhoo, it was a great weekend get-together, enjoyed by all parties... and I was extremely grateful to, not only spend time with my children but to also meet the lady who has put such a proud smile on my son's face.

Needless to say, I returned home feeling VERY FULL, VERY CONTENT and VERY HAPPY..!

Thanks for stopping by and reading my post, I really do appreciate your time.

And remember to keep smiling, it makes people wonder what you're thinking...!
