Wonderful Indonesia...

avatar

And that is the tagline of the tourism board of Indonesia in promoting the country... And I totally agree!

There are so many wonderful and beautiful places, and islands and natural attractions ~ I have probably only covered 10 percent? probably less... even though they are our closest neighbour

Of course when you talk about Indonesia, it covers a wide area, and supposedly 17,000 islands!

Think Sumatera, Java, Borneo, Sulawesi and New Guinea...

An interesting point to note ~ Indonesia may be the most populous Muslim country, but it is a false pre-conceived notion if you think they are just that! They have maintained their rich traditions, cultures, backgrounds... and don't forget, Bali consist mainly of Hindus, who practise their own version of the religion

Today, I have three different sites from three different places in Indonesia...

So, here goes... this is my second segment of #travelathome from @psos, let's see how much further I can take you, without using any pre-published photos!

Bali!
This is the Pura Ulun Danu Bratan or the Bratan Lake Temple
An iconic, popularly-recognised image of Bali!
I happened to visit while the weather was grey and drizzly, hence the almost disappearing horizon
I kinda like it like that
Almost as if the temple was floating on thin air

The 9th century Hindu temples or 'candi' of Prambanan found near Jogjakarta (Yogyakarta)
Dedicated to the Trimurti of Brahma the Creator, Vishnu the Preserver and Shiva the Destroyer
These multi-faceted temples of stone stand majestically silent in the evening light
The entire Prambanan temple compound with a combination of over 500 temples - both standing and fallen - was given UNESCO World Heritage Site status in 1991

Smokin'...
Yup, this is a live volcano
We are looking into the crater of the Tangkuban Perahu, sited north of Bandung
Literally meaning overturned boat, I visited this in 2011
It erupted in 2013 and the last eruption was in July of 2019

These are beautiful pictures, @ackhoo. What a wonderful travel log! I have never been to Indonesia or that part of the world, but I very much want to.

I also love gray days on water, when photography is misty and you can get that disappearing horizon effect.
