My Reasons for the Nomination
I wish I could say this is my favourite because of it's elaborate plot or a telling editorial on the problems of the day (and today), but my reasons are much more base than that. This is arguably the first science fiction movie I ever watched, and it left a lasting impression on me: the giant robot and stereotypical spaceship and space-man-clothing defined just what "science fiction space travel" is, to me, and is a movie that has never quite had its look and feel replicated for me. I still love over-the-top space toys, ray guns, silver space suits and the like. Great stuff.

My Reasons for the Nomination
Funny. Funny, funny, funny. Belly laughs galore, and awesome martians. It has an awesome all star cast - and Tom Jones! - terrific cgi martians - and Tom Jones! - and a wonderfully strange and unexpected ending... and Tom Jones!

My Reasons for the Nomination
I like this movie just because it's so much damn fun. It's about the polar opposite of The Day The Earth Stood Still in it's moral story in that there really isn't one; it's just a fun police romp in modern day Earth (mostly modern day - the internet wasn't quite as wide spread then, as crazy as that seems these days. Simply, it's fun and you don't need to think.

I’ve only seen Men In Black and liked it.
I still laugh every time I watch it. It's a very simple no nonsense plot, but really fun.
Men in Black was a hit, don't think I have seen the other two selected @wwwiebe
If you like really really silly, Mars Attacks! is just too funny. It's incredibly ridiculous.
Nice choices @wwwiebe! So glad to see you made it in this month! There is something so nostalgic about those classic space suits, ships and other images from your first selection. I can definitely see why that stuck with you. Of course your other two are just good fun and quite iconic in their own right, as well! This has really been a fun month to see what everyone picked!
Thanks! I love those old campy outfits. I've actually recently been contemplating putting together a comic series in that genre. Just one more thing on my List of 1,000,000 Things To Do! (tm)

Yes, absolutely! I love old campy B-horror movies too, and have a huge collection of them, some of which are actually "silent" movies with only a piano soundtrack.
