Why I Bought 1,000 SPI Tokens
There are many different projects which we seeing being tokenized. One of the major benefits of all of this is that we have opportunities before us which, otherwise, most of us were locked out of. Wall Street is a pretty exclusive club and the attacks on cryptocurrency by the banking elite and the SEC (in the U.S.) shows how much they want to keep things how they are.
Fractional ownership is one of the major waves I see coming down the road. The advantage to tokens is they can be created to represent something else. Put on an open, decentralized market, this means anyone can get involved. This allows one to get into project early as opposed to late.

One such project, in my opinion is @spinvest. I started following this when it was introduced a few weeks ago. Since that time, I was taking some of my liquid STEEM payouts and buying the SPI token. Each day I added a bit more.
Today, I decided to take a plunge since I saw the price of STEEM dropped some. Hence I converted a couple hundred dollars worth of fiat to STEEM and sent it over. That transaction completed not long before I put this post together.
So what is SPInvest and where do I see it going?
To start, this will end up like an investment club. While in the early stages, some of the groundwork is being laid for people to get involved in two ways. The first is as a token holder with no say in what is done with the STEEM acquired.
Option 2 is where one takes a more active role by voicing opinions and concerns about particular opportunities perhaps even serving in a role that ultimately makes those decisions.
The idea of this arrangement is to allow people to get involved and have their STEEM stake grow. Instead of touting the idea of coming to Steem, post articles, and pass Jeff Bezos' net worth in a week, the idea is to "get rich slowly".
All STEEM that is used to get the SPI is powered up. It is then leased out, a choice that can yield as much as 20% per year. The rewards that come from these actions are going to be in two camps. First, most of it is powered up and put back out on the leasing block again. The second is STEEMbeing held in liquid form before moving to off chain holdings.
Last week, some BTC was purchased using 50 STEEM. This netted a whopping .00129 BTC. (Slowly definitely means slowly 😁)

The key to this is there are 1 million tokens available. Each phase will see an increase in price to reflect that is taking place.
This only makes sense as the value is appreciating as time goes by. Right now, there are 7186 SBI tokens being held (at 1 STEEM each) while the total value of the holding is 7214. Thus, in a few weeks, there is a 28 SP difference. Obviously, this is not earth-shattering but it is not bad for only 3 weeks.
So why do I not do this myself?
To start, it is nice to not have to. It is true I could keep the SP in my account and lease it out. Any proceeds could be rolled into different opportunities like Bitcoin, Litecoin, Gold, or stocks. However, that would require me doing it all which is a pain in the rear end.
Also, I would not have the advantage of the SPI token.
Right now, value is based upon what is sold. However, after all the tokens are out, the only way to get involved will be on the open market. This means, if the opportunities are growing the totality of STEEM, the value of the token will have to be pushed up. Simple supply and demand seems to always be in play.
We often see people pay up for growth. This is common in markets. If SPInvest is growing at a decent rate, as a whole, that will only make the SPI more valuable.
I have always loved the compounding effect on Steem. The entire system builds one's holdings as time goes by. Being active in different ways means there are a lot of different payouts. This is only accelerating.
SPInvest is a project that I see looking to take advantage of this. It is a way for me to passively enjoy the potential returns as things keep growing on here.
I also like getting in at the early stages. Over the next decade, if a 15% annual rate is realized, the 1M STEEM will turn into over 4M. Adding another layer by converting it to fiat, if the price of STEEM is $5 by then, that would make it worth $20M or $20 per token. Not a bad return when a token costs less than 25 cents today.
As always, this is not financial advice, simply what I am doing and how I see things.

Why is SPI preferable to lending directly on minnowbooster for 15-20%? I'm currently getting at least 18%.

Hello, im preferable to whoever pays the highest ROI. Currently my biggest lease is an off market 5,000SP lease thats pays out weeklyand at a yearly rate of 20.8%
That's a very good return. However, adding SPI as a layer in the middle increases uncertainty for me. What benefits does it over to make that uncertainty worth it?

Much easier to just delegate to @tipu to earn greater than 15% apr. Then you can compound your growth in more SP to delegate to @tipu or buy btc for your own personal wallet.
Savvy investors would always value SPI tokens at a discount to NAV due to the risks involved. With zero legal protections in crypto the law of the land stands... Not your keys not your coin.
You could do it all yourself but people enjoy convenience. Tipu pays out liquid STEEM/SBD which needs to be manually powered up everyday to take advantage. The advantages to SPI is token holders own a part of everything including the steem-engine wallet that makes ok steemleo and palnet tokens. There is no wasted SP at all because @spinvest never manually upvotes, everything is either leased out are being vote sold ensuring the maximum amount is extracted from each STEEM POWER. You simply cant do that from a personal account if you are an active member.
The long term plan is that when 1 million tokens are issued, the community built around it will hold the keys and i'll simply play a role instead in running the whole thing. Think if it like, im pushing it until 1 million tokens are issued then it'll go fully decentralized with investors taking roles. I plan to step back and reduce my responsibilities.
Great comment by the way. I miss how steemit is not as interactive as it used to be.
Thanks for the reply. I will watch your progress and perhaps change my mind.
Best of luck. Cheers!
The owner could simplly die like Quadriga guy.
Then what?
Sorted 3 days ago :)

Plus i think that having access in the Quadriga case is pointless as there is no BTC left, the guy just did a runner.
That exactly was my point.
Anyone can do a runner.
Hmm, it's tempting me too. But how can you be assured of off-chain holdings? Is there some escrow or multi-sig wallet for holding those fund? Yeah, I get that receipt is on the blockchain. It's good for audit purpose but what about the actual fund ...that whopping 0,00129 BTC or any future investment in precious metal etc.?
Hey, i seen you were tempted enough to dip your toe :)
Right now, the off platform investments are being held by me @silverstackeruk. The plan would be that in the future, some investors will be given roles as holders if we call them that. We might have 2 guys that holds all the crypto, 1 that holds stocks, ect are we could have a group of say 5 that have access to all keys/passwords ect.
I dont plan to be running this forever. In a nutshell, it's semi centralized until 1 million token's are issued and then it'll become full decentralized and i become an investor same as everyone else.
Yeah, glad to learn about the person behind this initiative. It rests all questions about credibility and trust. Happy to get an opportunity to invest in SPI. Thank you!
Thanks man, that's one person less to convince.
Good luck and hope you are going to hit well on that one.

It's an interesting project, I like the ideas and the opportunity to learn. I like the way it keeps moving forward and tackling the challenges of implementing the idea.
Thanks man, im on a mission and seeing posts like this and comments like your keeps me going.
That's good. I'm a woman, by the way.
Sorry, i call everyone man, buddy are bro.

You know me so i can talk straight and you wont take it wrong. I have just checked your wallet, you have loads of money, give it to me, i want it.....i neeeeed it!!!! lmao
1400 tokens sold today bro, stack on ta fooook
Can’t use that right now. It’s from a sale of silver, I’d be losing half my money with the price of Steem right now.
Oh, your doing a flip?
I thought about doing that with some steemmonsters cards. The card prices are up and priced in dollars while STEEM is down. What's you sell point?
Just had a look at the wallet. Thanks man, that's 50 closer and 50 more chances for you to in something in the 200 SPI giveaway coming soon.
Your a legend as always. I promise no begging for a month. At least 3 weeks for sure.
This party is getting started and ive just done some leases so we are almost earning 5 STEEM a day. Not to shabby for under a month. Thanks again for your support bro, i'll do you proud
This is great post.
I had to rub me eyes when i opened the wallet. lol
We'll keep pushing forward, i'll keep promoting and working on the agreement. You keep doing your doing, thank you so much for all your support so far.
