Gym Progress 8/15/2019; and recovery from...

avatar

It's been 4 days since the last gym trip, but I did get in two trips in the last week, so I won't complain about scheduling.

I missed a day because I had a colon scope yesterday; there is a good side to this story. I dropped two pounds LOL

Today (Weight 221.5)

  • Pre-Workout Warmup
    Bike 5 min
    Starting/Ending Heart rate 112/136

  • Leg Press
    290 @8, 10, and 12 reps

  • Leg Extension
    80 @ 10
    80 @12
    85 @ 8 (4 ISO)
The last set wasn't really good; I put bad effort into it

  • Inclined Dumbbell Press
    20 @ 8, 10, and 12(4 ISO)

  • Dumbell Bent-Over Rows, Bench
    20 @ 10
    25 @ 10 and 12 (4 ISO)

  • Dumbbell Bicep Curl
    20 @ 10 and 12 (with a rest break on L side)
    25 @ 8 (R) and 6 (L)
I need to look up how to balance out these sides, maybe by going with L first?

  • Tate Press
    40 @ 8, 10 and ((15))
(()) means I needed two breaks to finish...I was going for 12 on last set, but because I had to take the second break, I added reps

  • Dumbbell Shifting Lateral Raise
    12.5 @ 8, 10, and 12
Combination of forward and side lat raises

  • Inclined Situps w/ medicine ball, 6.6 lbs
    6, 7, (9)
really wanted to hit 10 on last set ;>
I did NOT get stuck on bench this time LOL

  • HIT Kettleball Swing
    20 @ 10, 12, 14
FINALLY had the energy to get some HIT in

  • Post-Workout Cooldown
    Bike 5 min
    Starting/Ending Heart Rate 156/137
1 beat over my suggested maximum LOL

  • Notes
The fast day to prep for the colonoscopy wasn't bad, I think I'll do that every couple of weeks MINUS the prep solution.

I think the keto is also starting to take effect.

A lot of dumbbell work today, just the draw of the rotation; it seemed easier at the time. I don't know why; BUT I think that with the other work I've been doing, my arms are starting to catch up.

I'm dead in the water now...there is a yoga class tonight, and while I've been meaning to start doing this at least once a week, I just don't have it in me today.

2 years ago, these numbers were WAY past my reach; I took a health/(and then) laziness break for 7 months. My point here is that while getting into a gym habit is hard to start AND hard to maintain, your health depends on some form of physical activity...the more the better...but you have to work up to each higher level of it.

Get thee to a gymery!
